To be exact. It was The Grantland Rice Bowl La. Tech, McNeese and ULL all played usually a team from Tennessee. My dad worked the chains and 14 year old me sat on first row of end zone at all 5 games played there.

as I recall from the Wiki (fwiw), for a time before current divisions of lower classifications in CFB, there was a regional division of what is now the FBS and the "champions" of those divisions would have a playoff with the Grantland Rice Bowl serving as one of the championship game for its region

I passed by there a few days ago. The stadium is in really bad shape. With as much money as BREC has, you would think they would take better care of it.

I didn't make the list, but I'm assuming this must have been the criteria. Is Gormley or Independence stadium considered the "home stadium" for a specific high school team? It seems to me like it's just a venue used for some home games, but not all.

Why isn't Tad Gormley on the list? It holds 26,500

Like someone said above. It probably has to be the official home field of a team.

Not sure if because some NOLA teams rotate between a few venues it would nullify that qualification. Or could have to do with the percentage of events held there. Such as the primary purpose has to be for HS football, or maybe even the intent of why it was built.

Here's the better question - Which high school football team does Tad Gormley serve as the home stadium for?

Huntington and Woodlawn play all of their home games at Indy Stadium, Southwood played 4 of their home games there

. It’s actually been Catholic High’s home field for a few years now.

This seems odd isn't that kind of a sketchy part of town? You would think if Catholic was such a outstanding loved institution like its followers claim that they would have their own Stadium? Or maybe they do it on that side of the city for recruiting purposes?

I get it, but I don't think anyone could convince the person that made the original list that a 50,000 person stadium in shreveport, LA is a "high school football stadium".

I attended high school games there late 70's and early 80's. I also played BREC football there in the 70's.

Catholic outgrew Olympia
I believe catholic has an agreement with Brec to start making some improvements to memorial over the years as it will be their defacto home stadium going forward

I remember we (John Curtis) played Capitol High there in mid to late 90's. I seem to remember the stands feeling really steep too.

They also would lay refrigerant coils down and freeze it for an ice skating rink during Christmas.

Yeah, I’ve been questioning that since the move was made from Olympia. Which is a fine HS stadium (though smaller) in its own right.

With the $$$ machine that Catholic High is, I can see it eventually happening.

Catholic High is 2.2 miles from Memorial Stadium. 4.7 miles from Olympia Field.

Chs doesn’t want liability on school grounds for football games plus the parking nightmare for surrounding neighborhoods
They don’t have room to put stands at catholic with track there
The turf field is nice though
