From another similar list, their criteria was

quote:

only one stadium per state and only stadiums that were created primarily with high school football in mind.

Not sure if Memorial was built for High School football, can't find that info, but somewhere like Gormley would be off the list with that criteria.

Gormley also looks to claim themselves as the home site for UNO/Xavier/Tulane track and field.

being the home site for schools who don't host competition doesn't really mean anything

UNO track and Field

Tulane Track and Field
ETA: I don't think there was even a track prior to the olympic trials. Older pictures don't show a track

Think it might have been the site for the NOLA Gold and some other minor league stuff.

Again, not knowing the criteria it is hard to say why.

I think the fact that Gormley calls itself a "multi-purpose" stadium is what removed them from this list. I initially looked up the other "war memorial" stadium in Little Rock, AR (50k capacity) which is the home field for the Catholic High School Rockets and the Parkview Magnet High School Patriots - but it also calls itself a "multi-purpose" stadium.

This top 10 list would probably look alot different if you included any stadium that is mainly used for HS football. I originally shared it just because I was surprised the BREC memorial was #3.

With the track, Tad Gormley is actually too narrow for rugby and soccer, although soccer has been played there. NOLA Gold played either at Pan-American or Archbishop Shaw.

Lower division professional soccer is usually played at Pan-American as well.

Tad Gormley has always had a track, but was built for football, which it has hosted since the day it opened. There were even NFL exhibitions there in the early 1960s. Saying it's a "track-first facility" is simply a way to skew results. There were nearly 19,000 souls in there a few weeks ago for the Brother Martin v. Jesuit playoff game.
