Independence stadium in shreveport holds more than those and is used for Huntington and Woodlawn's home games.

I remember somebody telling me this when i was watching a game there as a kid and always thought they were just messing with me.

Also saw the circus there and there was always a Christmas tree lot there. Shriners I think.

True, but that doesn't make it a "high school football stadium". The 10 stadiums in that list were made & mostly used specifically for high school football.

Gormley is a track facility used for football. Not a true football-only facility.

no they weren't. Tom Benson Hall of Fame stadium hosts a damn NFL game every year along with a college that plays there.
War Memorial stadium in Hawaii held the Hula Bowl.

that's what it was built for, Tech-Northwestern used to play their annual rivalry game their during the state fair every year, and it was expanded when Shreveport got the Steamer(USFL?) in the '70s, but it was/is primarily for hs use

I'm not sure why it wouldn't be included in this list. I see it's described as a "multi-purpose" stadium, but it seems like it's mainly used for high school footall.
Built in 1937 & found this info on the wikipedia page.
quote:
In its early years, the stadium would host high school football games in front of sellout crowds with standing-room only crowds surrounding the playing field. The record for attendance was set in 1940 when 34,345 spectators attended a game between Jesuit High School of New Orleans and Holy Cross High School of New Orleans.

I think you're missing the point here. Just because a stadium that can hold >20k fans is used for events other than high school football doesn't discredit what it's "main" use is or why it was built.
As for the independence bowl, it seems it was originally opened in 1924 & used for college football games.
quote:
It also served as a neutral site for the annual Arkansas–LSU football rivalry from 1924 to 1936. The 1924 game featured a silver football trophy as part of the dedication ceremonies for the new stadium.

Memorial Stadium
Rice bowl used to be played there
To be exact. It was The Grantland Rice Bowl La. Tech, McNeese and ULL all played usually a team from Tennessee. My dad worked the chains and 14 year old me sat on first row of end zone at all 5 games played there.
