They had another baby that died 2 years ago, originally thought to be due to natural causes due to a heart defect, but police are now taking another look at that death as well.

He should be put to death, but will likely serve 10-15 years and be out to make another baby that he can possibly do this to.

That would be way too humane. If he was executed in public in a painful manner it may deter other POS from doing this.

doubt it, murderers only get 7-10 years and most get out on parole in just half that time.
you get more time in jail for drugs, assault, or robbery then for murder.
