The conquest is a big step up from a basic single engine plane. It has twin turbine engines and is super fast and reliable. Its a highly sought after twin these days.
that's great, as long as you don't have some idiot that thinks he can fly it just because he can afford to buy it

Or hire some guy cheap who has no business being anywhere close to a high performance aircraft. I've seen it time and time again.

a professional pilot is the way to go if you aren't willing to put in the time to maintain proficiency, aviation is awesome, I encourage more people to experience it more, it's just that you have to know the limitations of the aircraft, and more importantly, yourself

I fly Gulfstreams. Not much else is high performance in my opinion.
The 441 performs well for what it is.

Get wasted the night before so you're so hungover during the flight you almost hope it goes down.

I hope you didn’t just jinx yourself with this thread. Good luck.

Hope OP survived. Don’t see any plane crash stories

Haha I made it. Took me 1 hour and 45 mins to get from MS to NC.
I rode copilot the whole time and it was a smooth flight most of the way. I got a lot more comfortable once we were on autopilot at 25000 ft. He updated the autopilot firmware last year so it was smooth. We hit some decent turbulence at 10000 ft during our descent. Anxiety meds had kicked in good by then so I didn't have a worry in the world. Also he constructed the airport that we landed at in NC...so the airport charter service treated us like royalty when we landed. Rolled out the red carpet haha.
And to answer a few questions. My boss is the pilot and flies his plane like we drive our commuter cars to work everyday. I work at home so he probably flies his plane more than I drive my SUV. He's been flying regularly since the 80's so he has lots of flight hours. The plane has regular maintenance and is well maintained. It also has all brand new dash/avionic instruments so its not antiquated. He has all of the best bells and whistles on it.
He was a little pissed when we got in the plane because he let his son fly his friends around in it last week and he left the plane in a mess.

I have read stories of skydiving planes that crashed and everyone dies and I wonder just how in the hell did not at least one person be able to use their chute ?
Someone already answered you correctly that those disasters are usually when the plane hasn't gotten enough altitude for a jumper to get their canopy open. Your choice is to take your chances the pilot can get down safely or go out the door and just splatter on the ground, the only positive about going out the door too low is at least you have something to pretend to do and keep your mind occupied as you fall to your death.
There is something ironic about someone dying in a small place crash when their intention was to jump out of the plane.

Last time we flew together I sat in copilot seat....an alarm started going off on the planes dash when we we 15000 feet up. He yelled "Oh shite". The last thing I want to hear the pilot say is "Oh shite". I nearly shite my pants.
Luckily the alarm was caused by him forgetting to turn the knob to decompress the cabin. After he turned the knob, the alarm went off a few seconds later.
I have a friend with a single engine plane. I went up with him one time just to fly and kill an afternoon. We are cruising along the Ms river and I am sitting in the copilot seat and he says "Copilot's airplane. I am going to take a nap because I do not feel good." After about 30 seconds of me freaking out he says "I am just messing with you." Good thing I didn't have a gun on me because when we got back to the airport is the one time that I was mad enough to actually shoot somebody.

Some years back a Cessna 182 that was being used as a jump plane had a engine failure right after take off, the 5 people on board including the pilot all had chutes on, but there was not enough time or altitude to jump. The pilot did a good job of putting it in a field, but there was a fire, and 2 didn’t make it out, I had jumped from the same plane a few years prior.

I'm an Aerospace engineer, and I actually fear flying. It isn't the planes that I have an issue with, it's the pilots. I don't trust people

This never happened. You’re in Oxford enjoying a Marco’s pizza.

Any turbulence?
Smooth the entire way until our descent. Got pretty bumpy around 10000ft.
The weather was beautiful. Barely any wind and absolutely zero clouds.

Haha you saw my snap. I'm eating a Marco's za at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fayetteville

Yep, you can tell when they don't have fires when they crash. (Ran out of fuel on approach) It's amazing how cheap and stupid some small plane pilots can be.
Here’s one... So I’m from Mississippi and am in Atlanta for the weekend with a vehicle. I have a meeting with my boss and a friend and few others in Birmingham that Monday, so they’re like hey we’re going to fly over if you’d be alright with picking us up. Sure.
So they land and we’re in the little lobby area and the pilot is handling tie down service and whatnot. The person at the desk is like okay, tie down is $25 but we wave it if you fill up with fuel... This motherfricker ponders it. I assume he’s doing the math and he goes, nah I think we’ll make it back with what we’ve got on... Son of a bitch. Top it off. Take the guess work out of it.
