my cousin got married at the columns around 10 years ago. I remember not being able to hear shite because some jackass across the street was mowing the grass as they were saying the vows

Uber is pretty much non-existant. It is heavily regulated by the retarded city council, so there are only a few cars and its Uber Black. You shouldn't have a problem getting a cab anywhere uptown, downtown, or in the FQ.
Clancy's is a great restaurant. I would be happy to give you other suggestions if you so desire, if you tell me what you're looking for, price point, etc. But Clancy's is definitely a good spot.
Poboys: I personally like Parkway and Guy's a lot better than Parasol's or Tracy's, and I like R&O's Roast beef if you want to go pretty far out there.
Spend 10 minutes on Bourbon to see it if you must, but spend all of your other time Uptown on Magazine St, or in the Marigny on Frenchmen Street.
Columns is a cool spot.
