i know when im sick, i generally like to visit relatives with babies and old people.
If by some miracle i get the flu, something i've never had in my life, i'll simply go to the doctor and get some tamiflu and be just fine.
You realize you can have the flu a day before you even show symptoms? So you can be spreading it to others before you even realize it. Also...tamiflu is not always indicated. All depends how long you have had the flu.

all that being said, i would agree that everyone should get a flu shot, but i'm still not going to b/c i don't feel like going to the doctor and waste my time.
You can go to any grocery store, Walmart, Target, and pharmacy, etc and get them now. Pharmacists are now trained to give flu shots. I've gotten my flu shot at Walgreens before. Got it when I went to pick up medication. Took 5 minutes of my life.

Nope. Doesn't work that way. Flu shot, like any vaccine, takes time for your immune system to respond to it and provide immunity for you.
Flu shot takes at least 2 weeks.

does that make me a child in your logic?
Btw, you don't get to blame other causes of death on the flu, just because someone has the flu when they die. The girl in the OP obviously had a preexisting condition, which was the cause of her demise.
How was last year the deadliest year on record if people have been getting the flu shot in record numbers? Is it possible that it doesn't work, or does more harm than good for society as a whole?

Dude...you have never made an intelligent post on this site in your life.
I don't expect you to start doing so anytime soon so I don't know why I bother arguing with you, a known idiot.

Ouch lady. Maybe you should read your own statistics and links

well that didn't answer that question in any way shape or form.
Can you please assume the person i'm infecting had the flu shot at least a month ago?
Why would they be worried about my sickness? shouldn't the shot help prevent them somewhat from getting the flu, or does the flu shot just help prevent severe symptoms of the flu?
I've asked that question 3 times now.

I am having a hard time understanding the physical mechanism in which the flu causes a heart attack. I know we have a few docs and nurses lurking here. Someone help a baw out.

because they could still get it

it does both

The flu shot works in that it is to prevent you from getting the flu. However, it isn't 100% effective. So you can still get the shot and get the flu. Also...it only protects against what the CDC has determined will be the dominant strains of the flu. There is no way to have a vaccine for EVERY flu strain out there so they have to pick 3-4 to protect against. Iirc...they usually look at what flu season in Australia has shown to be the dominant strains (remember...Australia's flu season is the opposite of ours). So it doesn't protect against EVERY strain of the flu. So you could get a strain of the flu that the shot didn't protect for.
If you get the flu shot and still get the strain of flu that it was supposed to protect you against...studies have shown that you ended up having a much less severe version of that flu.
ETA: It isn't a perfect solution but it is the best we have at this point. Better to get the shot and have some protection that not get the shot and have no protection whatsover.

so what's the stat on people under the age of 65, children included, that have died from the flu, and DON"T have other contributing health issues?

the entire point of the vaccine is herd immunity
your logic in this thread is retarded

Does the flu shot trigger a T-cell response? Or just b-cell antibodies?
Posted on 10/8/18 at 11:14 am to SDVTiger
You do realize that no vaccine, ever, is 100% effective?
But you still vaccinate your children don't you?

i understand that.
My point is, so few people, that arent' elderly, are dying from the flu, that most people don't view it as something they are even remotely scared of.
What's the point of getting the vaccine if the chances of me dying if i don't get it are extremely low, low to the point where it's insignificant? Yes i get the point that you get it to prevent it from spreading. I"m just pointing out why people don't get it. You can try to scare people all you want, but a working 20-40 year old could give two shits about dying from the flu. The fact that a 20 year old chooses to smoke today, is all the proof you need as to why we don't do more to prevent premature deaths.
as i've said before, it is not common to know someone that has died from the flu. Everyone knows someone that has died in a car accident, or from something likely related to smoking. We still text and drive, don't wear enough safety equipment when driving, and still smoke, but i'm supposed to worry about the minuscule odds of dying from the flu?
Most healthy adults, are not going to go out of the way to get a flu shot, that's just the facts, and it's not a big deal. If i could have gotten one when i brought my kids to get their annual checkup, which just so happens to fall right before flu season, i'd get one when i bring them, but they don't allow it, and i've always asked for it so i could show my kids shots don't hurt. If i worked in an office where they brought in a service to do it, i'd get one. But i'm not going out of my way dropping by a doctors office, or a pharmacist, to get a flu shot.

What you have children and still won’t get a flu shot??
I thought parents do anything they can to protect their children?
Guess you just don’t care enough do you?
