Walking Catfish are headed North by the thousands up 19 and I 75.
Snakeheads are close behind.
I hear Nutria are swimming South to balance things out.

Okay... you say this...

quote:

It’s a myth about pet owners being the major problem.

And then this...

quote:

The real issue was hurricane Andrew rolling through Homestead. It released an almost uncountable amount of pythons into the Glades. Homestead was the exotic snake pet breeding capital of the world.

Ummmm...who, exactly, are the exotic pet breeders breeding the pets for? Pet Owners. So.....

They're in the Glades .... this will not affect them in the least.

Andrew already did the damage in that regard.

I thought the python problem was further south.

Miami has the issue with wild roosters and iguanas. How far north does that go?

Hurricane Andrew tore through some pet shops. When I lived in Florida at the time, there wasn't hardly any regulation on what kind of pet you could have. Myself being young and dumb got a reticulated python. After it tried to bite my wife, gave it to a biker. He along with other dumbass's like me probably let it go in the Everglades.

Zero. Only thing that can impact numbers is a massive freeze. Like North Dakota freeze.

That wouldn't be good for the orange trees.

Pythons have eaten virtually all of the small mammals in South Florida including rats, rabbits, raccoons, possums, and foxes. The solution to eradicate them is live bait composed of thousands of mice, rats and rabbits fitted with Tylenol collars. Tylenol kills snakes not so much mammals and birds.

The python hunters could bring in enough live ones of various sizes to test dosage.

Guam is using dead rat fetuses loaded with Tylenol to combat the brown tree snake population that has decimated native birds and other wild life. Brown tree snakes will eat most anything so they are dropping thousands of bait cards with strings that get caught in the trees from helicopters.

There have also been some releases of Nile Crocodiles that are breeding and concern that some cobras have also gotten loose.
