Honowitz’s attorney, Jayne Weintraub, called the incident an “honest mistake” and that her client simply forgot to pay for the items. “After reviewing the video it confirms what we have said,” Weintraub said. “She put the lipstick and mascara in her purse and intended to pay and forgot. Had she put it in the cart, it would have fallen through cracks of the cart. She had every intention of paying and simply forgot." The veteran prosecutor was the supervisor of the sex crimes and child abuse unit when she was suspended and has been involved to several high-profile cases, WSVN reported.

Let's say all that horse shite is true. She meant well and had good intentions. It doesn't matter. She is still a thief and broke the law. Actions have consequences and broken laws come with punishment.

The truth is, she is part of the system so the system will not punish her. This will be brushed off, forgotten, and gone like a fart in a hurricane.

Her treatment is so racist. If Shauniqua had forgotten to pay....

I've caught myself absentmindedly putting an item in my pocket at Lowes 2 or 3 times. Crap happens.

She paid for the rest of her groceries, $125 worth. Makes over 100k. It was $43 worth of make up. The make up would have fallen through the cracks of the cart. She forgot. No way was she trying to steal.

She doesn't look like the kind of person that would shoplift.

Five years ago, she appeared at a Miami courtroom when her brother was arrested on theft and forgery charges. During the hearing, she mentioned her job several times, the Herald reported.

Apparently thievery runs in the family.

So she got the extra good brakes on her car when she got a brake job. She totally was going to stop for the stop sign and just forgot. Your wife and kids are still dead but there will be no punishment for Princess. She just forgot to stop.

Either she broke the law or she didn't. If she did, there are consequences. The fact that she could afford to buy her lipstick does not change the fact that she stole it.

Her excuse is bullshite. Those carts at Publix have a place to put small items where they won't fall through where the kid normally would sit.

Is there an intent element to the applicable law?

The article was unclear on many things. The rush to print it negated the need to gather, and confirm, many facts.

Hinowitz, Weinstein, Cohen, Al Franken; ousted CBS chief Les Moonves; actors Dustin Hoffman, Jeffrey Tambor and Jeremy Piven; directors Woody Allen, James Toback and Brett Ratner; playwright Israel Horowitz; journalists Mark Halperin and Michael Oreskes; conductor James Levine; and radio show hosts Leonard Lopate and Jonathan Schwartz; and the list goes on.

for a population of just 6 million, they sure do get in trouble a bunch
