the job has become so toxic and villified that no one is applying.

Man that sucks. Idk how to feel about this one. That dog did kinda bolt out the door quickly.
I agree with you as much as I hate what happened. The dog took off and hard to tell what to do in that situation. you can sit here and tear apart that video for hours but all that happened in the matter of seconds.
If I were the home owner I'm honestly not sure I wouldn't have gone after the cop p[physically in my yard.
As the cop, the dog did take off quick as hell at him and he reacted.
All in all, he will walk but feel bad about it. He can easily explain this one away but the city will probably settle before letting him explain himself.

Fortunately we have a real life example as to that exact scenario... On phone can't quote the article.

Officer tries to shoot homeowners dog- misses, shoots 4 year old girl. Judging by the outcome of the investigation they performed in themselves, they didn't see anything wrong with his actions from what I can tell.
Right, but what would happen if a postal worker or 19 year old pizza delivery boy did the same thing?

dumbass janitors
Wow. It's says a lot about your character that you apparently have more compassion for animals than fellow human beings.
I hope one of those "dumbass janitors" neglects to clean a shite splatter from the under side of the next public toilet you have to use, and you wind up with a brown pecker head.

Cop had no business on the property or to open any door, if the dumbass cop stays in his car and does the job he is paid to this never happens.

Boy, did you miss the point of that post. But, your pussified triggering is duly noted.
Oh, and one other thing, I've actually been a janitor in my long, industrious career. Worked with some fine folks, too. Some of the best I've ever met. And guess what, anyone who can't move on from that profession is almost certifiably a dumbass. So, there.

Oh I am sure a good DA could come up with some creative charges. Discharging a weapon illegally, child endangerment, aggravated assault... And that assumes he possessed the gun legally. If not he's federally fricked for illegal possession of a gun during a crime.

Did anyone notice the cat getting the hell out of there?
That's why you never hear any stories about cats getting caught up in shooting incidents with cops.
Cats are much more meticulous than dogs.

You're wasting your time.
And you do not understand the function and duty of LEO's.

That's a really interesting thing to say.
The word duty throws me off a bit, it suggests that cops are somehow legally required to act. Cop don't have to do shite, they are just cops. They have no duty to act.

That was awesome.

You're wrong. And in most cases they can be punished for not acting.

No sir. Police are not required to do anything.

I'm not anti cop in the least, but why does this keep happening? Is there just a lack of training with a large portion of law enforcement as far as necessary force?
More and more it's being reinforced that YOU GO HOME, PERIOD. It's the US vs. THEM mentality that is just swept over the entire police force.

Correct, LEO do not have a duty to protect citizens They're job is to investigate crimes and arrest suspected criminals.
The officer in this video was not protecting anyone but himself. And entered the property to investigate an potential crime.
Besides Warren v. District of Columbia sets a precedent that LEO's do not have a duty/obligation to protect, it does not prohibit them from protecting.
ETA: If they see someone getting beat up they will face no charges from going to the defense if that person, just like good samaritan laws will protect citizens from going to the aid of of people too. But that's not what this video was about.
