Unfortunate, but yeah, that pit was getting ready to lock onto that cop. He didn't have much choice.

Perhaps you have an alternate reason for his actions?

It could also have been about to lick his face with joy. That cop rushed to judgement and used deadly force too quickly. No dog kills a big, strong man instantly.

If the dog was truly attacking him, he'd have had ample opportunity to use justifiable deadly force to end the situation. That didn't happen here. This POS cop fired a deadly shot at the first sign of a dog coming out of the house. That's bullshite.

Yes. He was a pussy with a gun who used it too quickly.

It is easy to judge when it's not your life that is in danger everyday.

Show me the point in that video where the cop's life is in danger. The video is online. Freeze for us a stillshot of the video on the timeline where the dog is about to kill the guy.

OK. So at what point of his bodily mutilation would you be OK with him killing the dog?

Where it actually attacked him. Do you see a point in that video where the dog was mauling the cop?

When he opens the door and realizes there's a vicious animal attacking him.

Yeah that's not going to happen (on my phone). Listen- with the current state of policing (undereducated, understaffed, overworked) these guys aren't angels. You can't expect the average cop with (hopefully) a high school diploma and below average intellect and real world job prospects to make every decision perfectly. Because that's what it's come to. Nobody wants to do the job anymore. They are the janitors of society. But they are better than not having them around at all. If you don't like it quit your job and volunteer to take his place.

Look, I respect most cops, and dread the job they do. I really do. You get no argument from me on that.

But, this was a failure in training and a dreadful reaction by this cop. Plus, equating the police force to poor dumbass janitors, like you're doing here, is no vindication for their behavior and ignorance of common sense procedure in defense of public safety.

Like I said when he opens the door and sees the dog come out. Again, on my phone, can't show a picture.

So, a dog coming out of a door is justifiable shooting of the dog? Ridiculous.

I genuinely wonder what the reaction would be if a postal worker or hood rat pizza delivery boy did the same thing on camera, shooting in the direction of the family's door and all.

I also wonder what the legal ramifications would be if one of those bullets missed or went through the dog, bounced off the concrete and hit an innocent child bystander.

I honestly think it comes down to ability & I think the analogy is pretty fitting. They may not have the common sense you'd like or the genius intellect the job really requires, but it is what it is. Society has arrived at this point because the job has become so toxic and villified that no one is applying.

So just because they're stupid means they shouldn't be accountable for their actions and should be able to get away with just about any stupid action they do on the job. Gotcha.

Fortunately we have a real life example as to that exact scenario... On phone can't quote the article.

LINK

Officer tries to shoot homeowners dog- misses, shoots 4 year old girl. Judging by the outcome of the investigation they performed in themselves, they didn't see anything wrong with his actions from what I can tell.
