Has anybody else noticed videos of car chases and such with language like "this horrible criminal was caught by Flock cameras". Seems like their PR is in overdrive now...

Ive seen the owner/founder active on X. They may catch some criminals but the majority of its purpose is surveillance state of hardworking normal Americans.

I haven't but I'm not too concerned with Flock as it seems to be doing a good job of helping to catch criminals and getting crooked police officers fired. Its a win-win.

You see it on this very board with the posters that love flock cameras and data centers

Criminals don’t have any money to pay fines and the government likes it when the taxpayer is scared

Are you surprised by the positive spin PR? People are actually attacking these cameras, so they need to push the agenda about how they are going help us to justify the surveillance state.

Would you also be okay with amendment of the Internal Revenue Service Restructuring and Reform act of 1998 that prohibits random IRS employees from repeatedly searching people's accounts that they just want to look at for no reason?

Hey. They may find something on the 100th or so one they look at. And their ex girlfriend or ex spouse should have not forgotten that 10 dollar 1099 if they didn't want a full audit. Right?

Additionally... there is no reason to not place one of these on every corner of the areas in the cities that have a higher instance of crime while not worrying so much about the other areas. Right?

And the frickers that misuse it dont catch a charge.

If that jackass in Jefferson Parish was charged for each misuse he would be sitting on a few thousand charges. Let that marinate for a moment.

Bunch of whataboutism

I don't spend my day in fear of Flock cameras. Its getting crooked police officers fired isn't that what we want? To have the bad apples removed from policing?

Just as a I thought. No answer. Attempt at diversion.

What's the difference between the IRS scanning accounts at random and the local police scanning flock information at random? Well.. there is one difference. The IRS employees are prosecuted for egregious violations of RRA 98.

So they are ok to be more heavily installed in the traditionally more high crime metropolitan areas then. Right?

The flock CEO is on record calling anyone opposing the cameras "terrorists". The guy is a complete douche.

Considering there's a non zero and growing number of completely innocent people spending time in jail, pulled over at gun point (in some cases multiple times across jurisdictions), or getting swatted over flock errors or abuse, I could see how this wouldn't concern you.

All people running for public office need to make their stance known on these cameras before elections.

While feigning ignorance about how he didn't realize some people actually like their constitutional rights and don't want to willingly give them up.

The only reason the Jefferson Parish dude got caught was because someone outside of the Sheriff's Office brought it to their attention. So its not "catching crooked police officers".

They should be heavily monitoring how and what officers are accessing in that Flock data.

Um they already are. Police are getting fired all over the place for misuse and abuse of Flock.
