Oh come on. Stop only looking at quality of life. Don’t get so hung up on improving infrastructure, attracting new business and industry, and decent public education.

What other place on earth offers its four seasons as Mardi Gras, Jazzfest, Saints Football, and Christmas lunches at Galatoire’s?

See you at your extended family’s in Metry for Sunday dinner.

I've had people tell me that Mobile is nice.

Mobile is actually OK.

If you want something akin to New Orleans but without the chronic, ongoing insufferable bullshite. Then Mobile could be a good choice.

Alot alike in history, architecture, oak lined streets, historic district, downtown bar scene, good restaurants, very easy access to terrific outdoorsy stuff like beaches, hunting and fishing.

The only real knock against Mobile is they have a last call. I forget what it is but I was out drinking one night, many years ago, they had last call and I wasn't even drunk yet.

Fairhope has some nice subdivisions. Magnolia Springs for a rural setting. Ono Island if you enjoy a beach/bay setting.

Where in FL? Looking at Pensacola area.

yep, stay in the pan handle areas, calm weather and mostly conservatives there, also still fairly protected from hurricanes

Ive heard good things about raising a family in Fairhope, AL

There are three kinds of people who live in Fairhope. Old people, milfs who got the house in the divorce and couples who have made good but are barely one generation removed from Alabama white trash. Stop by the Yachtclub and you'll see them drinking Natty lite from a can.

No need to leave the state baw, the Northshore feels like a different state compared to Nola. With solid income you can live like a king up here.

We’re going check out fairhope this weekend.

I think you’ll like the area. Home prices have spiked (like many other areas) and over $300/ sq ft not uncommon in Point Clear area. That said it’s a much better investment than Rock Creek with a golf course that has changed ownership numerous times and is having trouble staying afloat.

As mentioned, plenty of young families and the new Catholic HS (St Michael) is performing well but the Fairhope public schools are very good.

Still have active Mardi Gras, festivals, live music, and occasional outside play or covert on the bluff overlooking the pier.

No records of a murder in Fairhope since 2012.

Wow. No records of a murder in 10 years is insane. I’m used to multiple homicides and carjackings daily. Lol

Home health rehab services company. Also an outpatient clinic in nola. Hiring someone to run clinic and can run home health remotely.
