Not quite that high at that price point but where we are it’s way less than I was paying for 2 kids private schools. Not to mention they ride their bikes 3 min from the house to school everyday and have a heard of kids to play with at the park every afternoon.

its not the best for sure but the amount we make here compared to if we moved is worth it.

but one thing you and others dont seem to understand is....when you are married with mutiple young kids...all of that great night life yall talk about is out the window(that shite sucks for the most part anyways)

talking abotu neighborhood bars and dumb shite like that....no good parent is going to the bar on a week night unless its some special occasion. especially with 3 kids. Piece of shite parents...sure, but not those that are involved. and good parents are going out to bars every weekend either much less multiple times.

so yea its not the best but im 2 hours from houston, 2.5ish from nola, 2 from lsu, good private schools and good public compared to 99% of LA, host of upscale restruants(still needs improvement here) and in my area no crime, decent COL etc.

i mean its not napa valley but its sure as frick better than san fran if you are a family.

Do you think this is the norm for people w/ families in Nola?

Good thing there aren't world-class museums, zoos, aquariums, parks, parades, festivals and shite to take the kiddos.

My kiddo takes riding lesson in city park while I'm getting trashed in the FQ. Win-Win

no not at all. my reply was to SS. he always says "you call that living" when anyone says they live in any place other than a major city.

my point was that bars and things of that nature dont really matter than much to peopel with kids. the whole boring thing is laughable.

as far as zoos, muesems etc NOLA does have those in droves, but they are also an easy drive for most people.

What about date nights and doing something without your kids? It’s always a plus to have something exciting to do nearby.

sure but most of the time its a nice restruant and maybe going to listen to a band for regular things. i mean every smaller city even worth its salt offers that.

things like concerts and the like...those or rare and people just drive and stay the night.

those things are nice....but know what else is nice...feeling safe when you do go do those things. not having your car broken into all the time...having good public school options...not getting raped on taxes...not having a mayor who isnt a tyrantt

as far as date nights etc.....NOLA is an easy arse drive from the north shore on a saturday afternoon. and the quality of life on the north compared to the south is night and day imo.

culture is overrated as frick imo.

ive had people tell me from there that they dont see how someone could live in a city with no past.....my reply its better than living in one without a future....thats nola imo unless something major changes locally and at the state level.

Very conservative with 3 young kids, high income business that can be run remotely.

Frisco/Prosper, TX is the only answer. Short drive 20-30 minutes to Dallas.

I've always said hell no to Houston. How do ya'll deal with the traffic if you work near downtown? It takes me 15 minutes in the morning and 25 minutes in the afternoon to get to and from work(early go in and early leave).
Some of my co-workers in the Houston area can't even get out of their neighborhoods and onto the interstate in that time.

You'd be surprised how few people actually do the drive you are talking about. There are lots of jobs all over the place and many people live much closer to their work than you think. I've lived in Cypress (the older part of it) for 30 years and the longest drive I had was when we first moved here. Then it was 40 minutes. Every job I've had in the last 25 years has been about a 20-30 minute drive. My current job is 3 miles and 3 red lights from my house. My neighbors have never had those horrible commutes either.

All y'all who think it's just one big parking lot feel that way because you're going to the most congested areas and at the busiest times.

Most people who move to the city actually seem to like it. Once you get here, it's just not like you think.

I always think of how many more opportunities kids have in the city. They can participate in just about anything they can dream of. I grew up in the country and I promise you that having less people and less to do doesn't mean they have less opportunity to get into trouble.

all of those things are true. but franklin and lusher are not that much better.

as far as opportunities that is 100% true but you could move to other cities that have more opportunities and have better schools without close to the bullshite houston provides.

example parts of dallas, parts of nashville etc

I found the property taxes on 30A (Water Color) to be comparable with that of Orleans Parish.

Check out Boca Grande, Englewood Beach and Dearborne Street. Punta Gorda downtown is walkable and Fisherman's Village is really cool. Tons of waterfront parks and old craftsman homes in PG. Great little Belgian Beer Bar, The Celtic ray is a fun place too. We love it here and thats after living in Tampa for 12 years. Have fun!

Can’t wait. We’ll basically be dropping our son off at IMG, then just exploring the area. Both Saturday and Sunday. We’re driving from BSL…so we’ll have our own vehicle.

Florida doesn't have income tax either and the coast is full of world class beaches and fishing. Galveston bay has more box springs in the water than fish.
