I got a flat a few weeks ago on the coldest night of the year. I was only wearing shorts and a T-shirt because I was on my way to the gym, plus I had smashed my fingernail earlier. So I put my mancard away and called roadside assistance to come change it. Dude was not happy to be called out to fix a flat. It was close to 20 degrees and I wasn't about to stand out in that with no coat and a bum finger. Plus I pay the damn 3.99 a month on my insurance so I might as well use it.

As delicate as they appear, I have never had one fail either.

Why does it always seem to happen with flats like this?

Same reason pussy comes in waves or good fortune at the casino.

Scruffy is a doctor and should have some fundamental understanding of these things.

90% of tire failures happen in the last 10% of the tire's life.

Yes, old tires with little tread and less flexibility due to age hardening are more susceptible to punctures.

This is my worry when I travel to Washington.

I feel a setup.

I turn into my driveway and my son says something was clicking and also was clicking when he last drove my Tacoma. We looked at the rear end and then noticed a fricking round nosed kitchen knife bent like a U and poking into one of the lugs of the left rear tire.

That was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in a tire. I pulled it out and no repair needed.

Did you get the road hazard protection plan?

If you did, you may get another new tire but free this time. Or they may just patch it up on the inside.

Some people say plugs don’t last and should be repaired too with a patch on the inside.

Put $1K in 20's in a brown paper bag.tape it closed, and place it in your mailbox before 9am today.

Your tire puncture issues will disappear... just like your neighbors' did.
