Lost one tire to a screw yesterday.

Threw on the donut and got a new tire placed.

24 damn hours later, Scruffy loses a 2nd tire to a nail.

AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Why?

Why does it always seem to happen with flats like this?

Tire needed to be replaced anyway.

All 4 actually need to be replaced.

Just didn’t want to do it right now.

Did you buy a house in a neighborhood with a lot of houses still under construction? We were one of the first occupied houses in our starter home neighborhood and I bet we had 10 flats in a year.

Did you happen to drive along the same area? There might have been some type of accident that left behind screws and nails.

Not the case.

Been here 6 years and have had 3 flats during this time.

2 because of nails and 1 from a screw.

Same thing happened to me months after Gustav. I kept running over roofing nails from construction.

About 2 months ago I had a run of bad luck with tires. I hadn't had a flat in over a decade then I got a 3" screw in one tire. No big deal get the floor jack, impact gun, and plugs out and it is fixed and ready 15 mins later. Two days later another tire on the same car had a 2" nail in it. No problem, repeat the procedure and back on the road. 3 days later I had another flat on the same car (all different tires) pulled it of and it turned out to be a failed valve core. In over 35 years of driving, I have never had a valve core fail.

It was the weirdest string of luck ever for me with tires no construction in my neighborhood and not driven anywhere that I can remember that had construction and the valve core was a true mystery.

Sounds to me like you'd be better off just running four spares.

Still seems like a lot. I've been driving for 18 years now and have had 2 flats I think.

Prior to these 6 years, no flats at all.

Just a bad run of luck.

After Katrina working all over New Orleans I kept 4 tires in the back of my truck with a floor jack. I would drive back to BR at night drop them off at the Treads and Care door and pick up the ones they had fixed that day for me. I don’t recall going more than a couple days with at least one if not two flats. I felt like I was on a NASCAR pit crew.

First tire repair to open was a place on Williams Blvd and that guy made a fortune.
