But the county would actually be getting tax revenue from Disney, whereas they didn't before.

Disney is already paying property taxes in Orange and Osceola Counties.

From what I’ve read (take it for what it’s worth) the taxes they pay Reedy Creek do not reduce their property taxes in the counties.

I assume the counties in which they are paying property taxes? But I don’t know.

Do they assess themselves on behalf of the counties?

Yep, seeing the left crying because a multi-billion dollar business is losing special tax credits is..........interesting

They’ll take any position they can think of just to oppose conservatives. Instead of saying “yeah maybe we don’t need tranny education in first grade.” They are the proud party of sexual deviants and victim ideology and must never waiver.

But they also have to take on their infrastructure expenses, and the Disney district has been operating at $5-$10 million losses the past several years. It’s going to be a while before anyone really knows the accurate financial impact this would be for all parties involved.

Every single state agency from the FBI to to CIA to the IRS is weaponized against conservatives.

If conservatives are not going to use state power to fight back, then just hand the left the keys. It’s over. The dismal tide will continue to erode.

Sounds to me like bonds were issued to pay for infrastructure and Disney was paying the bond holders but now that Florida has have removed disneys tax exempt status, the obligation to pay the bond holders changes to the tax payers.

Also
What about all of the other maintenance fire and security expenses? They fall on taxpayers too.

The county has done the assessments. Disney also adds a “millage” for DVC owners. Every developed property gets assessed. The hotels alone are huge tax burdens.

I loathe activist govt. I am not a fan of Desantis on this move, but not because it will "cost the taxpayer."

But yes, local and state government will become the focus for conservatives but the Federal Govt is the main obstacle. Disney is just noise.

Its theme park megaresort near Orlando attracts around 50 million visitors a year, powering a Central Florida tourism economy that annually generates more than $5 billion in local and state tax revenue.

People act like the park isn't still going to be open and continue to generate tax revenue. I'm pretty sure the bond pay off is going to come from the $5 billion annually generated by the park. To me the real issue at hand is the roads and infrastructure around the park will no longer be maintained by disney and further more disney will no longer be able to control the development around the park. doing a little reading on the internet, Disney wanted the special district in the first place to control the property around the park to prevent it from being over commercialized i.e. super trashy, like it did around disney land in california. Kind of feel like this is a big no story here, control of land and taxes is changing hands, thats all.

quote:

He disliked the businesses that had sprung up around Disneyland, and wanted control of a much larger area of land for the new project. Walt Disney knew that his plans for the land would be easier to carry out with more independence.[2

it will be interesting to see how the local government handles this new influx of tax revenue, I'm really surprised that dems are against this, they fricking love taxes.

Sounds like it might be a good deal for Disney. Why the sky screaming? Leftists live subsidizing big corporations. This should make y’all happy.

They also were willing to use their own money to develop the infrastructure because the counties at the time were not financially able to provide that for them, nor were they really willing to develop it. It was pretty much unusable swamp land when Disney bought it and started developing it.

I think Disney are pieces of shite for their stance on the LGBTQRSTV bill. I also think covid was the most manipulated govt bullshite in my lifetime and there should have never been a single mandate or restriction

But you and roger go on with your “covidian” and “groomer” talking points

Initially they used their own money, but You don't think they've been using the taxes generated within that district to finance continued infrastructure improvements? also, you act like there was no infrastructure in place before, it wasn't a completely raw land when they took over. Part of the reason the spot was selected was because of the local infrastructure.

He used multiple shell companies to buy up land, at very low prices, that eventually became the district. These company names are listed on the upper story windows of what is now the Main Street USA section of Walt Disney World, including Compass East Corporation; Latin-American Development and Management Corporation; Ayefour Corporation (named for nearby I-4); Tomahawk Properties, Incorporated; Reedy Creek Ranch, Incorporated; and Bay Lake Properties, Incorporated.[
