First world problem of the day...

What's with McDonald's new drive-thru policy? Every time you pull up, this recorded voice asks if you'll be using your Mobile McDonald's app to order today.
Why would anyone do that? Who wants to order cold food ahead of time when it just takes a minute for them to cook it hot?
Someone insert Jerry Seinfeld GIF here! I don't have time to look it up.

I’d much rather order electronically because I have zero faith a fast food worker will get my order correct.

Tge ap is the best way to order fast food. You place your order. Then even your there in line you give a code and they make your order. It isn't made when you order. Them you get discounts and other deals.
Then in places like chick fil a you skip the normal line.
The app is a faster way to order food

I'm assuming like any other restaurant with an app that you can earn points or take advantage of discounts by using it.

You don't trust the Mickey app to make your sausage?

It takes 2 minutes to get your order in and pick it up at McDonald's...And in the year since they started doing it, I've never ever seen anyone skip the line for any reason.

Does someone other than fast food workers handle your order if you do it electronically?
Do they have other people who aren't fast food workers working in there for these special electronic orders?

When you order fast food through an app, they do not make your order until you arrive at the restaurant. The food is just as hot as if you ordered through the drive through or went inside to order.
A few other reasons to use the app:
1) You can choose curbside and skip the drive through line, which is more often faster.
2) The app has deals, offers & points that save money over ordering at the restaurant.
3) Accuracy is often better through the app since you eliminate the middleman taking your order who will potentially key it in wrong.

Like somebody else said, the trouble is getting the person taking your order to actually listen closely and care about accurately entering it into the system. I don't get fast food often but use the apps when I do and it seems to be a major improvement across the board.

You tell them your code and they cook it. Same as everyone else in line.
You should try it sometime, gramps.
ETA the chi fila app gets you a free sandwich like every 3 orders and sonic drinks are always half price.
I'm a fan

One of the LED lights in my bathroom was flickering while I tried to shave this morning.

My chic-fil-a has 3 drive thru lanes. 2 for people ordering in-person, and the 3rd is for those who've ordered thru the app. It bypasses all those people in front of you and merges further up. It saves a ton of time because you're not sitting there waiting on 8 people in front of you to order then fumble with their wallet.

I'm talking about McDonadls, not Chicken licking. What's so hard about understanding in the year since they started doing it I've never ever seen anyone skip the line for any reason?
You must have failed basic reading comprehension in 5th grade.

And you got a link where McDonald's always gives you half off for using the app?
I'll eat crow if you do...
ETA: I also eat crow if you post a link where Chicken licking gives you half off...

My knot head kid somehow linked his Alexa echo to my tv. So when he plays his radio lab for kids podcast it also comes on my tv.
Posted on 4/14/25 at 10:29 am to TigerGman
Yes. Free shite every day because you earn points to get a free sandwich like every 3 days and my kid loves an egg McMuffin on his way to school once a week which has become a tradition.
Here you go. There's a shitton of offers every day
How do you like your crow prepared?

$1 fries or free fries is a good deal

I don’t McDonald’s often but when I do for the kids… I use the app. Always have deals and I don’t have to talk to a human that had trouble completing high school
