In one aspect you may be correct. The Toyota dealership I went to for my two years of free oil changes takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours to do an oil change.I understand lots of places don`t take that long,but some do.
If you value your time then would you want to sit there for that long or change your own in 20 minutes or less? If you say I drop my vehicle off then someone has to pick you up and drop you back off. So you are actually devaluing someone else`s time.

Also, I have heard lots of horror stories of dealerships screwing up cars as well.

I do find it amusing when I read a comment such as "not value your own time" when that same person has been on TD most of the morning. They could have changed the oil in six vehicles during that time.

If you were "an experienced mechanic" and had an out of town mom who you were worried about making sure her car was in good shape, you wouldn't do the occasional oil change when you saw her, you wold help her find a trusted place to have her car worked on when need be so that she would KNOW her cat was in good shape without having to wait for you to come visit to make sure

No, just somebody butthurt that even after reading the manual and watching 5 different youtube videos he still can't find the oil filter on his '86 Corolla.

Plus he doesn't get some people don't find it to be a chore like some people like doing their lawn work. I actually enjoy changing the oil especially after a track day which includes changing wheels/tire and switching brake pads. Then again I love cars and miss the days when I had time to build an engine or put on a supercharger.

You can take it to any parts store and they have drums in the back you pour it in, free of charge.

Im 35,000 miles overdue for an oil change in my 2015 jeep.

My daily driver in high school had a underdriven 671 on a 351W that I built myself with the knowledge I learned from hanging out in Gene Fulton's and Bud Moore's shops. Hell, I still remember the cam lift, duration and overlap for that build.

Mine was actually a 67 notchback born an A code. It was painted in Shelby Hertz colors except the Lemans stripes were spaced farther apart and were wider to flow with the reverse hood scoops that held turn signal indicators on the 67.

Plus mine was built years before the 2000 remake of Gone in 60 seconds.
