Crazy story. I'm in real estate, builder friend building in east Nashville has been getting job sites plundered at night there. Puts up camera, catches older black guy with two younger (likely his children) going through the house. Calls 911. Explains the situation to black female dispatcher. She specifically asks race which he tells her. 52 minutes later police show up, perps are gone. Buddy is pissed at police, shows them when he made call, they show him it called in 8 minutes prior to arrival.

So yeah, she gone, but again he got taken to the cleaners again and no doubt dispatcher stalled due to perps being black/children. Moral here is if you have means, don't rely on single source for protection, not even 911.

About time people learned this. You're on your own, protect yourself.

Simplest explanation is the most plausible. What is your theory?

My theory is that there isn't nearly enough information given in the OP to know the dispatcher was racially motivated to protect some black men from being arrested so she waited almost an hour to dispatch police.

Was the dispatcher black?

We have no idea. But the assumption of the most nefarious intent seems like something we shouldn't be doing like a knee jerk reaction.

Everything else aside, your buddy should call the news stations and report that local 911 is sandbagging calls. Do not mention any unwarranted presumptions

Looks like the Nashville 911 dispatch isn't really at the top of their game.

quote:

The first officer arrived five hours later. Luckily it was a false alarm.

The I-Team called police and started asking questions. According to police, the call got lost.

“If I had been shot I would've bled to death if I had laid here for five hours,” Murray said.

Police said the dispatcher alerted two officers who were already on calls and unable to respond. So the call sat pending and never got assigned to someone else.

Well I can say this, with the way police forces are losing people left and right, call times are growing rapidly.

i have seen several articles about call response in various cites is almost doubling. I saw how non emergency calls are taking over an hour for response on average.

So yeah, I wouldn't put much faith in 911 and having someone immediately show up.

This is other side of what is occurring by demonizinh police. People are quit police departments because they are tired of putting up with people's BS and now those same people have no officers to respond to calls.

He's lucky they didn't steal the cameras too.

The above quote is from Ginatkiller's post about a 5 hour response time back in June.

Sounds like police in the area were busy with other calls for 44 minutes. A unit was dispatched as soon as it was available.

Nashville is spoiled. A false alarm only takes 5 hours for a response, and it makes the news. Look up the response rates of Dallas & NOLA. The fact is police depts all over the country are understaffed, and response times for non-emergency calls suck in major cities.

Is there a way to privatize the clerical side of the job? I mean, I'm not sure how police departments are currently set up now, but I thought many of LEO's were frustrated with the clerical aspect of their job. If these officers are tied to a desk/laptop, it would seem to make sense that their are fewer of them on the street. Maybe someone with the proper background can give a better overview of how this works.

Hit me
Going, going, gone
Now I dialed 911 a long time ago
Don't you see how late they're reacting
They only come and they come when they wanna
So get the morgue truck and embalm the goner
They don't care cause they stay paid anyway
They treat you like an ace they can't be betrayed
A no-use number with no-use people
If your life is on the line then you're dead today
Latecomers with the late coming stretcher
That's a body bag in disguise y'all, I'll betcha
I call 'em body snatchers cause they come to fetch ya
With an autopsy ambulance just to dissect ya
They are the kings cause they swing amputation
Lose your arms, your legs to them it's compilation
I can prove it to you watch the rotation
It all adds up to a fricked up situation
