Why did the US destroy it's ability to be energy independent under Biden on day 1 of his administration?
Because Biden said that’s what he basically wanted to do before he even made it into office. But what does that have to do with the US sabotaging Nord stream?

Dude, did you not see the statements by Biden and others threatening to take out the pipeline if Russia invaded Ukraine? Look at the video yourself. It’s all out there for anyone interested in informing themselves.
I haven’t seen it. I’m interested… which is why I’m asking the question. Do you have a link to “the video?”

If there was an exterior explosion…. Why is the metal peeled outward?

Why did the US do this?
To provoke a greater war, duh. They are trying to provoke Russia into expanding the battleground.
Biden's handlers need their wars/income plus the public is always more willing to give up freedom and liberty in exchange for "protection" or safety from the govt. NATO needs a purpose again because people are starting to realize it isn't useful.
There are many reasons why Biden did it and very few for any other explanation.

So there’s no possibility that Russia did it?
quote:
But officials familiar with the latest intelligence say that Moscow would likely view such a step as worth the price if it helped raise the costs of supporting Ukraine for Europe. US and western intelligence officials believe Russian President Vladimir Putin is gambling that as electricity costs rise and winter approaches, European publics could turn against the Western strategy of isolating Russia economically. Sabotaging the pipelines could "show what Russia is capable of," one US official said. Russia has already taken steps to manipulate energy flows in ways that caused itself economic pain, but also hurt Europe. Russia slashed gas supplies to Europe via Nord Stream 1 before suspending flows altogether in August, blaming Western sanctions for causing technical difficulties. European politicians say that was a pretext to stop supplying gas.
I’m just trying to play the devils advocate here.

They would have had to pressure-test the entire thing to an industry standard acceptance criteria before putting it in service. It’s not even two years old. Methane is clean. Corrosion have would taken years.
I haven't been foloowing closely, do they know which one blew up first?
Thought initially it could have been Nord 2 (Nord 1 as collateral) that is new, correct? One of the delays in Nord 2 was that they couldn't get inspections due to sanctions.

NordStream Rack has some pretty nice stuff

Great prices on the brands you love.

This is not at all what a corrosion related failure mechanism would look like. This looks more like a brittle fracture failure which isn’t dependent on age. That being said Im still convinced there is some frickery involved in this failure. Just wanted to point out that an actual failure is possible.

quote:Probably 75% of the world's countries and hundreds of private companies have the ability to do this at 80 meters.
What other country had the ability and incentives to do it?
Incentive? Most of the incentive would seem to be with private companies. LNG companies can sign longer and more lucrative contracts. Competing pipelines have obvious advantages. Even Gazprom could possibly recover insurance from lost sales on a destroyed pipeline vs one that is simply turned off.
quote:There was also a ton of Russian naval activity including subs.
Oh, and there just so happened to be US naval activity in the area at the time it happened.
quote:Yes. The depth is accessible to nearly all commercial equipment. For all we know this could have been an attempt to tap the pipeline gone bad.
Ask yourself—if someone else did it, do you think they could do it without our detecting it? Seriously, how hard is this?

When is the last time there wasn't "US Naval Activity" in the Baltic Sea?
