I will be praying for you. My father was on a ventilator with covid and had around 10% chance to live in Aug 2021. I don't know why I came here except for the same reason--to ask for prayers because there was nothing else I could do. He is still here today and still working against the odds.

You may have a mutation that is predisposing your family to cancer (i.e. Lynch or BRCA1/2). Although not top priority, it may be worth getting screened or your daughters screened, as it may save lives down the road with earlier cancer screening. I hate going to the doctor as much as anyone, but cancer screening does save lives and catches things before they spread. I lost a good relative because he never got a colonoscopy.

I was at MD Anderson last week. There is a trial drug for pancreatic cancer right now and it is having very good results. You should seriously consider going there

It’s not my place to give advice here, but I’d recommend that you tell your daughter asap. Let her know that you are in this fight with her and show her how to be strong through it all. Be her example and show her the way.

I've thought about and prayed for your daughter since your last post, in as much as an imperfect person like myself can.

This Sunday in our little parish, as God is my witness, my little family and I are going to light 3 candles as we go in to Divine Liturgy:
one for your precious daughter,
one for you,
and one for all of your loved ones.

And we will pray.

God bless you all brother.

Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy.

Thank you.This is everything.

I say it in every cancer post…. frick cancer

I had testicular and treatment rough to say the least. Lost my grandmother to esophageal cancer, my moms sister to leukemia and my moms brother had to go bone marrow transplant to beat his leukemia.

Prayers to you and the family. Not much you can control as it’s in the doctors hands. All you can do is make sure to eat and sleep. You can control getting the body what it needs to heal.

My name is Andrew.
For Anna.

For Andrew.

My sweet wife of 21 years almost died last year giving birth to our children. She sustained injuries to her kidneys that will, by scientific and medical accounts, drastically shorten her lifespan by decades, even though she's healthy as a horse and a spitting image of Ashley Judd. When she was in the hospital undergoing a surgery that would determine whether she lived or died that day, I found myself alone in the room we stayed in overnight before they whisked her off to emergency surgery. I was distraught, obviously, and in prayer and mourning like many men, including myself, rarely if ever find ourselves in, and I've had some horrific traumatic occurrences from childhood onwards until this very day with a very sick wife and a son with a very sick heart.

One quote that I remembered that morning was from Saint Ambrose of Optina, and I looked it up in its entirety to refresh myself and look for any semblance of hope in my depths of despair, and it has stuck with me until this day. It goes as follows:

A continuously happy life produces extremely unhappy consequences. In nature we see that there are not always pleasant springs and fruitful summers, and sometimes autumn is rainy and winter cold and snowy, and there is flooding and wind and storms, and moreover the crops fail and there are famine, troubles, sicknesses and many other misfortunes. All of this is beneficial so that man might learn through prudence, patience and humility. For the most part, in times of plenty he forgets himself, but in times of various sorrows he becomes more attentive to his salvation.

Ten+ years ago I bumped into an old grizzled Vietnam War Army Sergeant that I worked for years and years ago. He told me he had pancreatic cancer, and that he was given months to live. He'd dried up into a shell of the frame I knew him as.

To this day he is cancer free, married for the first time with grand babies galore (adopted son from the 80s) and still doing part-time work as a hobby and fishing the rest of the time. Just out there thriving, and thankful to God for it every day: because he went through that cold, snowy winter, and the floods and famine and the Vietnam war as a grunt to boot. That was over 10 years ago. 10 years ago he looked like a dead man, but today he's watching the sun set.

Never say never, not ever, because the road ahead is going to be heaven and hell at the same time. Do not give up. Never ever give up.
