Tundra: terrible grill, cheesy aforementioned camo pattern, no option for black headliner

I dislike the new Tundra’s design and lack of some basic features. It’s not terrible, but it doesn’t seem to be fully baked. And the styling is just weird.

I like the Sequoia okay. It was slightly improved over the Tundra on styling but Toyota still made a bunch of strange design decisions that makes the Sequioa very flawed relative to its competitive set. It’s neither a real Expedition/Tahoe competitor or a viable replacement for the Land Cruiser. Not sure what they were thinking except that they were trying to do both with one vehicle and it doesn’t quite work.

I really like the Tacoma so far. The styling is better, the interior seems less like a caricature of a truck interior. I think this one is going to be well positioned to dominate its market segment if Toyota doesn’t have supply issues or screws up the pricing.

Toyota is clearly listening to the negative feedback on their full sized trucks and addressing it in the Tacoma. I hope they make adjustments to the Tundra now to really make that dent in the full sized truck market even if they don’t fully unseat GM or Ford. Unfortunately the big issues with the Sequoia aren’t going to be easy to fix. GM is going to continue to own that segment with 65%+ market share for the foreseeable future.

Toyota working closely with ARB for production bumpers is an awesome development. Seeing that on the back of the TRD Pro was exciting. Like you said, interested to see if they expand that to the Tundra and Sequoia, maybe also offer a front bumper option a la the new partnership between GM and AEV.

Sequoias are already pushing $100k.

Don't know if making them more expensive is a good thing. They already failed with a $100k land cruiser.

High revving turbo 4 no thanks

Ford & GM have already done this! Looks like new Nissan Frontier still has naturally aspirated v6, which is impressive, but not nearly as nice as new Taco.
I much prefer naturally aspirated but I definitely trust a Toyota turbo engine over a Ford or GM product.

Yota has gotten too cute with the Tacoma. I’d go Nissan Frontier.

Can the Toyota Tacoma chief engineer even fit in the truck?

Give me that engineer over some gym rat. At least you know his arse is sitting at the desk getting work done.

Ford & GM have already done this!

I hate to say it but the 2.7 is probably the most reliable engine GM is putting in trucks these days. The 5.3s and 6.2s have been plagued with lifter issues. The 3.0 diesel has been promising as well.

not looks necessarily, the electric tail gate, interior gizmos, turbo charged engine, etc. just too much. I like my 07 because it’s simple, and still burning no oil at 270k.

Threads like this are how you know the OT lies about its height. Everyone is 6’3” yet fit into the tiny Taco.

On the 1st page of OT right now we have this thread and one about a rainbow Ford. Very different trajectory for two manufacturers

Yeah, a big F THAT! .no way in hell would I pay good money for a truck with GM turbo 4 engine. That would be at the bottom of my list.

I like simple trucks too, but the majority on here were complaining that the old Taco didn’t have enough Tech. I’m cool with it, as long as it remains reliable . As long as you can now change the height on drivers seat!!!!

It looks exactly like the Tundra. What are you seeing that I'm not? The Tundra took a step back in my opinion. I like a few of them that I see on the road, but most look ugly AF. And the price tag is absolutely crazy. I bought a 2017 1794 for $46,000 brand new, a 2023 1794 will cost you $80,000 if you're lucky.

2003 4WD 4Door TRD Tacoma
(tax, title, & lic paid...$ 27,300 new)
sold it in 2013 for 10K

2014 4WD 4Door TRD Tacoma
(tax, title, & lic paid $ 37,100 new)
VALUE 22-24K
