Finally some hard news on St. George’s appeal.

Two appeals are being filed. One on behalf of the two individuals that Broome sued (Rials and Browning), and the other on behalf of the voters and property owners.

Personally I am glad they are appealing on behalf of the voters who followed the law, who voted to become a city and are being blocked by individuals trying to maintain control and power who enjoy rights that we can’t enjoy.

Two separate appeals are in the works: one on behalf of incorporation leaders Norman Browning and Chris Rials by the legal team that lost at trial, and one for voters and property owners in the affected area who also support incorporation.

The voters made the decision.
Why is that not respected? Kind of screwed up that the judicial branch would ignore a voter referendum.
IMO the voters in St George need to be filing lawsuits left and right. They are not in the city of Baton Rouge or any other municipality. They are entirely unincorporated and have every right to make their own city.

Because voting is designed to give the appearance that we have control of our lives

I live in St. George, I hated the idea of St. George, I still don't think it's going to work. All that said the people here voted on it and it passed. Continuing to block it is just wrong.

You are a rare bird, few accept election results anymore.

In Louisiana, the Sheriff is a parish office rather than an appointed city position.
Maybe, you mean police chief?

It was the Democrat Mayor, and the Democrat Metro-councilman who sued because they could not accept the election result.

It was opponents in Baton Rouge and the Mayor-President who sued to stop the result of a democratic vote in an unincorporated area of the parish approving incorporating area into a city like Baton Rouge, Zachary, Baker, and Central already have done.
So it’s really:
Claim politics that hurt my feelings are racist. Raise money. Sue to cancel them and then complain when they appeal.
Leftist playbook

Just wait until January 2024. Republican Governor and legislature can just ram the thing through. Courts can frick off at that point. JBE is the one holding this up as courts and EBR try to come up with imaginative BS to rule against state law.

I'm cheering on you St George folks. Looking forward to the day you all get your own City.

I agree, but the same section of law that gives themn the right to incorporate gives surrounding communities the right to try to block the incorporation.
