This was some scary crap. It wasn't just fight or flight but instead fight or flight or submit. This happened years ago.

The guy that was easily 4 times my size tells me to pull down my pants and bend over. I was terrified as you can imagine. I didn't have a gun on me and not even a pocket knife although I don't think a knife would have done any good.

My first impulse was to run! But I knew this man could out run me! That only heightened my terror.

So I am left with fight or submit! Either way I figure then end result will be the same.

So as you can imagine I am scared out of my ever freaking mind at this point with my mind racing a mile a minute but not coming up with any good exit plans.

So I submitted. I pulled down my pants and bent over and my dad whipped me good. Of course I had it coming. I think I was 6 or 7.

Walking through the brush in S Tx to retrieve a bobcat. I see it, train my eye to it and beeline towards it. about 5 steps out I hear the rattle, look down and discover a 6+ ft diamond back between my feet.
I shite and for the first time fired a weapon in the vicinity of my feet.
not a harrowing tale but the best I have.

unfortunately, my relationship. but it has gotten so bad lately that it is pretty much everything. I've just started SSRI's again, and counseling. Been a nervous wreck the past few weeks

Those dogs would now be dead. I would have shot both of them as soon as I got back from hospital.

Hate to hear it brother but it appears your best course of action is to rid yourself of any and all negativity; which may include your relationship. Of course, that is a lot easier said than done.

Is the counseling helping at all? Seems like a good start.

the relationship isn't really negative. this happened to me in my last one also. I've just got pretty bad OCD i think, and it targets my relationshi. i obsess about negative thoughts til it inhibits normal functioning. The counseling has helped, but I broke down and had to get back on meds because I couldn't do it on my own anymore. Had a stage 5 panic attack over the weekend and said enough is enough

Yes. I don't have the flight portion of this. My instincts actually make me move toward danger instead of away from it or standing still. I'll post an okay story. Nothing spectacular, but could've ended badly. Was hanging around a fire with a couple of guys and some buddies. One guy started talking shite, so I confronted him. He stopped, but he went and grabbed a machete and came after me swinging it. I threw a log at his face that stunned him, and then beat his arse all over the place. We ended up underneath a camp with him barely conscious. I grabbed an axe and was walking back to hit him with it. Luckily my baw grabbed it from me when I got a few feet from the dude. I picked up a handful of dirt, opened his eyes, and dumped it in. The end.

Come on, Man

Ahhh ok. For some reason I attributed it to your relationship as the cause. My bad.

Wish I had more ideas brother - that's a tough demon to slay on your own it appears. Keep up the good fight though

No offense taken my man. Nice to vent about it, even to a stranger. Sometimes I wish my brain had an off-switch.

Closest thing I have...

Some friends and I are swimming in a bayou by a bridge. We are jumping off the bridge doing flips off the control room of the bridge.

Three friends and I are standing on the control room, and one is in the water. A large gator, probably 9 feet pops up between where we would jump and where my buddy in the water is. Buddy in the water freaks out and starts swimming for the bank. The gator gets attracted by the splashing and starts to head in that direction.

I scream "frick it he can't eat us all" and jump directly at the gator. I assumed my boys would all jump shortly after I did. When I surface I am alone in the water and the gator is now heading towards me. He goes under, and I turn to the bank and swim as fast as I can.

The gator never surfaces again, and none of us are too eager to get into the water after that.

If that's all true, then I applaud you for having your boys back. Way to be a true friend

I have similar. It is my fight and flight at the same time story.

Weedeating for the city as summer help. I had one of those big arse Shindaiwa rigs that weighs about 25lbs with the shoulder harness. I'm knocking back brush, look down and there is a rattlesnake right between my feet.

First instinct is to hit that bitch with the weedeater, well I did and also tried to GTFO at the same time. Well now the head of the weedeater is running full bore, between my feet with the snake, and me attempting to run.

Remember the shoulder strap? Yeah I tripped all over that damn weedeater, tore my legs to shite, jeans looked like I fought a tiger.
