Looked like they went back in time. frick what was the initial drivers problem. Suicide mission? Never checked up and there wasnt space to even try to thread the needle.

That is fricked up. Here and then dead from a fiery car crash in seconds. One second of delay along the route and you're still alive.

Only reason the black car was hit was because of the silver car taking forever turning into the gas station causing a line of cars to brake check.
Butterfly effect in effect.

One the most touching/toughest things I've heard in a while was a podcast episode from 911 Calls with the Operator. The host interviewed his niece about a wreck she had that was very similar to the one in this video. A drunk suicidal guy plowed through an intersection, hitting his niece's car at 115mph+. It clipped the rear of the car, sending it spinning out of control. She was driving and had her sister and a friend in the backseat. The centrifugal force was so great that they all passed out. It also caused the backseat to collapse backwards, sending both girls up and back through the back glass (both seatbelts were buckled, I think). The car stopped when it hit a fountain. Both girls in the backseat were thrown clear of the vehicle. Her sister landed head first on a decorative iron fence. The friend went farther and hit head first into a building, killing her instantly.
It really is something everyone should listen to. He titled the episode "Ripples". They talk about what lead up to the wreck and her and her sister's long recovery. It really was nonsensical and completely fricking selfish for the guy to do that. He changed everyone's life with his one decision.

NorCal is such a shitehole
Idiotic statement.
Millions of good folks in Northern California - which, by the way, is not where this occurred.

There is a time for joking and all but this is not one of them. That a-hole knew what he was doing and toke out what looks to be a young family then probably survived. Someone had cops show up at their door with this news and will barely have anything to bury. Can't imagine being on that scene after this.

Per local thread- “The worst was a woman who picked up the body of a one year old boy who's car seat flew out of one of the cars. The child basically landed right in front of her according to the KTLA interview they did with her. The child didn't survive. The death toll from the last report I heard was 6 including a pregnant woman.”
Well, that’s enough Internet for me tonight.

Is it true the driver may actually still be alive?
interview claiming she had been drinking
I believe there was a hand out the window. Maybe holding a phone?
direct link to video with possibly better pausing
This is the driver

On KTLA5 11:00pm news they interviewed someone who claimed to be a friend of the Mercedes driver who said the driver had been in a fight with her boyfriend and had been drinking at a nearby house with friends prior to the crash.

NBC4 just reported the driver is a traveling nurse. She was given so much pain medication at the scene that a drug test wouldn't have been reliable. Likely to be arrested and charged.

That’s a lot to live with.

Even at 0.25 speed it is difficult to pause it and catch the Mercedes because it was moving so fast.
Appears that both windows are down and her hand is holding a phone out the window. Was she filming it?
That rules out distracted driving (staring at her phone and not seeing the red light and traffic).
Given her friend's statement about her being drunk and fighting with her boyfriend it very well could have been a suicide mission.
Coming down La Brea from the previous intersection is around 0.6 miles and a steep grade, she could easily have gotten up to 120+ mph.
If someone on scene had grabbed the driver and tossed her in the fire to burn alive would a jury acquit them?

Good lord that's terrible. What was she doing with her phone?

It will be interesting to see how the driver is charged.
You could probably argue intent to kill (ie. 1st degree murder) based on the video.

She deserves death, but we know it won’t happen.

I’m guessing the driver was completely shitfaced

I've known a couple traveling nurses over the years and the ones I knew liked to party and get shitfaced.
