Fiberglass vs. Gunite pool

Thinking about installing a pool. Outside of this being a terrible financial investment what is the OT's experience in Gunite vs Fiberglass?

Fiberglass will pop out of the ground. Gunnite will crack. Pick your poison.
FWIW the house across the street from my parents had a pool. The guy who bought it immediately filled it in.

How long are you planning to stay at the residence where the pool is to be installed?
If less than 10 years, fiberglass.
If more than 5 years, gunite.
If 5 years < t < 10 years, you're on your own figuring it out.
Personal opinion- most fiberglass pools look like cheap fiberglass pools.

Bunch of BS in this thread. I've had a fiberglass for over 10 years and no problems. Check your installer thoroughly. Fiberglass is easier to clean and gunite allows you to shape to your landscape. Also the fiberglass is easier on your clothes/feet cause it's smooth. Price is about the same

There is a way around this.
If you simply build a pool in your backyard w/out landscaping, a covered area or nice sitting area, then financially it's a loser.
However, if you create a living-entertainment environment .. a margaritaville to be trite, you can recoup your investment (recoup, not make $$).
You want a back yard that when you go to sell the home an OT Baller walks in and thinks, "I hast to own this."

My fiberglass pool as the house i bought lasted 34 years.
Easy as shite to take care of as well.
I ended up filling it in once we got multiple rug rats running around as it took up my entire backyard.

I have a fiberglass. We were swimming in a week after they started work.

Problem solved. You can make it more classy by building your own redwood deck around it.

My mother has an in ground pool will liner and it is great. Doesn't crack or come out of ground. Liner has to be replace rarely! Her house is about 18 years old and we have replaced the liner one time. Cost is not bad and she lives it and enjoys it almost every weekend during the summer with her friends.

Viking (example) fiberglass pools have 30 year warranty. You'll never have to repaint or have cracks.
There are more shapes and sizes than you need, including zero entries, etc.
No, quality product installed correctly won't pop up. For the record, gunite pools have been known to pop up as well.
Gunite has its advantages including ability for unique designs...but they will need maintenance down the road that fiber won't.
Fiberglass installation is a week or less. It's just quicker, of course, just the pool/cement. All suurounder craps is the time consumer.

Our pool is gunite. It was put in over 40 years ago and has only been resurfaced once. It's open year round and it seems easy to clean. I would say the bottom has a "rougher" feeling than the liner style unground pools I grew up with as a kid.
