Fernando Alonso got that winning feeling back after the British Grand Prix by claiming victory in a kart race from last place on the grid at Daytona Sandown Park. The circuit posted an onboard video of Alonso tearing through the field, going from last to first in just over two laps.

The Spaniard had completed just ten minutes of practice at the circuit but still managed to finish third on the circuit's 'Superstars' board with a lap of 45.627s, meaning he finished one place off local expert Sam Bird - who currently drives in Formula E.

The Daytona circuit posted the video of Alonso's impressive performance online:

Given the right equipment he's one of the 3 fastest drivers on the planet and my personal favorite. Seb and Hamilton are the other 2.

Really a shame that the McLaren car is such garbage this year. He's absolutely one of the best drivers on the grid.

If he ever falls on hard times he could always hustle high school kids at go-kart tracks.

See, it didn't exactly play out that way. But okay.

Well, maybe if he quits smacking into other drivers, he'll be allowed back on one of the a-list teams. He's good at outbreaking other drivers, but then he just slams into the back of them instead of pulling off an overtaking maneuver. In this clip, he just kind of muscles his way through the field.

Rubbin' is racing. Especially with the bumpers on those karts.

What about the year that Kimi took him out 2-3 times?? I think it was 2011. If he had scored points in those races he would have 3 world championships. Take your bullshite elsewhere.

Yeah, I've never though of Alonso as a crasher. He's not Romain Grosjean, that's for god-damn sure.

I know right? They are the second most winningest team after Ferrari both in race wins and championships. They still are one of the most respected teams on the grid. With the switch to Honda engines this year they are no doubt struggling, but I think they will be winning races as soon as next season. If Alonso can win another championship at McLaren before he retires, it will be nice. Dude deserves it.

Did you forget they won the WDC in 2008 and the WCC in 2007 (before the FIA stripped it away)?

Teams like Renault and Red Bull may have had recent success, but once they stop winning their corporate overlords will yank them out of the sport because all they care about is money and short term success. It is teams like Ferrari, McLaren and Williams that will always be around and as such deserve respect for all the success they have had over the years.
