Where are all the FEMA trailers left over from Katrina? Some people could probably have some use for them in the very near future. I remember seeing tons of them sitting on the side of Hwy 190 near Opelousas and more somewhere off of I-12 just falling apart taking up space.

There's a ton of them north of I-12 off the Airport Rd exit.

I think people would rather take their chances with the elements

No way in hell are those trailers still inhabitable.

The formaldehyde issue will ensure they're never used.

haven't been around that industry in years so it may have changed but formaldehyde has always been used in mobile homes, it's in the resin that makes up particle board for one thing

I want the one that has the speed trap warning painted on the side.

Right. And after a massive lawsuit, they'll be sure there are no formaldehyde binding agents in any FEMA trailers.

As they sit deteriorating, who wants to bet we are paying tax dollars to some politically connected land owner to keep those in place? I think about that every time I go by I-12 and see the one with the side that has fallen completely off.

Someone needs to set that field on fire.

FWIW, I heard that FEMA paid to have three or four giant warehouses of ice for about five years after Katrina. Guy that told me was laughing (he was part owner of one) about the fact that FEMA could have bought giant ice makers for a fraction of the cost.

I don't think you will see them. Someone mentioned the other day the companies that made these went bankrupt from all of the law suits.
