The majority of gym goers will get injured doing that crap. What is the advantage of kbs over barbells?

The majority of gym goers will get hurt doing just about anything incorrectly. You don't just try a 105lb pistol squat on day 1. There's a shite ton of progression. There's nothing wrong with barbells. Kettle bells are more versatile & are a different animal. If only allowed 1 piece of equipment, I'd choose the KB.

There's a KB version of most powerlifting movements. Most require the body to not only be strong but to be in good working order in regards to mobility/stability. So yeah, if u rip a 1.5p JB over your head at your local gym, u might get hurt. Same as the Ruhtard in the squat rack with 315 on the bar, squatting 6 inch depth & has 5lb plates under his heels cause he has no ankle mob. It's all about being "qualified" to do it. Crossfit doesn't qualify shite. It's about moving shite from point A to point B anyway u can
BB Deadlift = KB Swing
Power in the hips, strength/stability in the core & shoulders.

It's very technical. Only advice I can give u while knowing nothing about "why" is make sure u master the prereqs. Your swing should be dam near impeccable before even thinking about the snatch. Otherwise, your brain will forget to explode the hips cause it's thinking about the "pull to punch"

You can do KB workouts in your living room if you wanted
Like mentioned, stability and mobility come in to play more. And it's a great form of weighted cardio; you can crank out way more reps with the KB

Kettlebell training is a great compliment to any strength / fitness regimen
I personally use em for my core (KB Turkish Getups)
I also use light Kettlebell swings as a warmup preceding a strength workout and moderate/ heavy swing for high intensity training (it has take the place of traditional "cardio" in my training)
Very good stuff. Most heavy lifters would benefit by getting some much needed posterior chain work via the kettle bell, however, don't hold your breath....

Shmelly is right and kbs are a great compliment to a strength program especially the two handed swing with really heavy kbs as it is one of the best hip hinge accessory lifts like deadlift.prolly the best accessory lift for it, go read some of dan johns articles on it and how it helps.
Also sabi that lift you see that guy butchering is the glute thrust and is the single best exercise for beinging up the glutes and helping to get the squat weight moving again. Especially for those that do low bar squats. The exercise should be done with the barbell or bands not a kb though.
