promise you can get equal results from a Weber kettle and a Slow N Sear.

I've watched Alton Brown smoke with a cardboard box and a hot plate. You can obviously get good results with much less than an expensive kamado grill. But they do seem to make keeping consistent low temps VERY easy.

Yeah, you could do it without a man, but that don't mean it's to be done! shite, you can drive a car with your feet if you want to, that don't make it a good fricking idea!

With a tiny bit of research, and a little patience, you can get a Kamado Joe Classic with everything you need for $780. One retail place here in Atlanta is clearing out all their 2016 KJCs starting this weekend for $750.

The difference is these grills are absurdly expensive for no huge benefit over other options. They're basically the Yeti cooler of grills. People care more about the status of having an expensive toy than the product itself.

The $750 for the 2016 models is at Pike Nurseries around Atlanta. The sale started this weekend, and I would assume the deal is good until they sell out.

ETA: Free delivery was included in that price.

The $780 is the price you can get at a once-a-year sale at Costco. Google "Costco Kamado Joe Roadshow" to see when a roadshow is at a Costco in your area.

I have a top-of-the-line built in gas grill and a Primo XL. The built-in came with new house. The Primo XL outperforms the gas grill to a substantial degree. The only thing better about the gas grill is convenience.

It only takes me a few minutes to clean the Primo. It's not exactly painstaking

I don't use gas. I was talking about using a simple Weber kettle. Kamado are great for baking and smoking but terrible at grilling. They aren't versatile. 2 zone heating is much harder to do in one of these but you get the best results cooking that way. They're also so good at retaining heat that it's harder to lower them if they get too hot compared to a Weber. I don't think they are completely retarded but I'd rather spend my money on a dedicated smoker for big stuff and use a kettle for smoking smaller stuff and grilling.

bullshite. I can sear a steak @ 750 or hold it @ 375-400 for hours while doing simple shite like burgers, dogs or chicken. And I'm not even that good with it yet
