Pretty sure that on top of the earned fees AirBnB takes 30% of the rental costs as well

Does the grocery store haggle the price of a banana? You're comparing apples and oranges. If the dealer comes down big I won't mind paying fees.

Not sure if you've dealt with a dealership in the last 6 months or so, but they now laugh at you if you ask them to come down off the price. Maybe now with some gas guzzlers on the lot they may come down, but last month when I was in the market for an Insight Ex or Touring, about 4 different dealerships all held pat on the MSRP and didn't care if I walked or not.

As an Airbnb proprietor/OT baller, I don’t play the fee game. We have a 14 bed bunkhouse that rents for $300 a night is primarily used by work crews. We add a $100 cleaning fee and the cleaning lady is $150. These jackasses charging 89 a night for a spare room and charging a $250 cleaning fee can KMA
ETA: we recently rented our place for 7 nights. That’s 2200 for us, which turned into ~2150 by the time Airbnb got theirs. On the renters end, he spent close to 2600. Just incase anyone wants to know what that looks like.

And your response as a consumer should be to not buy.

My most hated fee is when movie theaters charge me a service fee to buy my tickets through their app but don’t charge me when I use the kiosk in their lobby to purchase and then print an physical ticket stubs. Logic dictates that it should be the other way around.

Ticketbastard pisses me off the most with the fees they charge.

VRBO usually has a total to rent. Adds all the fees so it’s easier to compare. I’m with you though it’s some bull shite when it almost doubles the advertised rental fee.

Lack of supply vs. demand. As a consumer I had no bargaining power. I said screw it, I can't get them down $2k so I'll pay full MSRP. Glad I did, a month later and gas is about to be north of $4 and my Insight actually gets more mpg in the city than it does on the highway which was exactly what I needed for my commuter car. And if I had waited, there is now a 3-month waiting period.

It’s annoying when searching for hotels, for sure.
$180 room. $15 parking. $30 resort fee. $25 fee fee. $75 taxes. In other words, a $325 room. But, they want to show up on searches for rooms under $200.

Man you should be far more outraged by taxes and the late fees imposed on those.

You are like the person that gest excited about the price of something but doesn't determine the shipping costs first. The bottom line is not the bottom line until you actually see the bottom line.
I could not care less how much a tire itself costs, what it the final total is when mounting balancing and disposal fees et al are tallied up. It is like you have never bought anything in your life.

As long as there are no fees

I was all set to buy my wife a new vehicle this week.
I know the market and was willing to pay sticker price.
But the dealer added a $7491.00 premium protection fee on every vehicle on the lot. It includes spray protectant for the seats and carpets, clear film on the door edges and inside the handles, etc.
My wife said - no way.
What a joke.

Bag check fees at the airlines were initially for them to “recoup the losses from 9/11.” I wonder if they’re close to making it back up yet.

Can’t be any worse than shipping and handling. Then a processing fee on top of that?? Hell naw.
