Are there really prop bet lines for players that average single digit points per game on bottom feeder teams in some of the lowest tier conferences in D-1?
Yep. I think the main players involved with this got busted because they had family or friends place wagers on very particular prop bets like rebounds or player points. When those random bets kept coming in it threw up a red flag.
You can find a bet on pretty much any stat for any player in any game. It has gotten out of hand.

Hell, I heard an ad for one of the gambling services on a podcast a while back and all the fine print and gambling addiction stuff was probably three times longer than the actual ad. It was one of those where the podcast host read everything in the ad read. It was ridiculous.

There’s a sopranos joke in here.

A grown man made a wager. He lost. He made another one - he lost again. End of story!

Crazy. I don't really mess with sports betting except for some prop bets for fun on the Super Bowl. Had no clue that there were prop betting lines on random obscure players for small conference schools. Always assumed the player prop bets were typically key players and/or higher profile games.

The man invented point shaving!

One of them indicted was playing at Nicholls when this occured for a game vs. McNeese.

Oumar Koureissi was indicted today for alleged point shaving while he was at Nicholls two years ago. He and former teammate Diante Smith were allegedly paid to underperform in a loss against McNeese. Smith was not indicted but is listed in the police investigation report.

No one mentioned Antonio Blakeny on page 1?
He was in the article
He was in the article

Former NBA player Antonio Blakeney was named but not charged in the indictment. Blakeney allegedly was part of the group that recruited players to participate in the scheme and offered bribes, and he has been charged separately. Blakeney was a star at LSU before playing two seasons with the Chicago Bulls (2017-19). He has since played overseas in China and Israel.

African ancestry. They’re both named after their father.

To the contrary. It's MUCH easier to catch now with so much data and information available than it was when point shaving schemes were being run by the mob and local bookies.
Yeah I think it’s made it easier to catch. People bet on apps for props. Irregular bets are noticed on a certain incident. You get caught.
It’s happened in soccer too. Your family members betting on you getting a yellow card so player purposefully gets yellow card.

There may come a time when I will give up watching sports since I will never know if my team either won or lost fair and square.
Fixed games have been a problem for a long long time and you have always watched. The most notorious instance was in 1919 in the World Series, over 100 years ago. It’s just part of society and always a possibility. We still love sports. NIL and the transfer portal have supposedly ruined college football, but LSU fans level of excitement in the last two months has only been matched by the 2019 season that Incan recall. People will always watch sports, including you.

If you don't think this has been going on for decades you a fooling yourself. Tulane point shaving incident was not as isolated as people think.
Most of us hadn’t been born when National champions were caught up in point shaving, Kentucky and the City College of New York. I don’t think they invented it either.
It’s not going away, folks.
