Was the tech guy from mission impossible controlling his van?

I don't like laughing at someone's misfortune but that is pretty funny. Either he not a good driver or there is something really wrong with that van.

My ex in-laws kids were in their dad’s truck and put it in neutral and it smashed his house. They got it worked out and no one was hurt and no one was mad. People make mistakes. It’ll be okay.
When we were younger than 5 my Dad put me and my middle sister in the car while it was warming up in the late Fall while he went back in for a minute. This was before mandatory child seats and somehow sister was able to stand on the seat and shift the car into gear. She nearly collapsed the laundry room on the other side of the carport.
Lived next door to the parish sheriff so police report for insurance claim was quick and easy. Luckily sister is a much better driver now.

Looks like the gear shifter had a problem, not driver error.
Didn’t use the parking brake. That’s a driver error. I suspect that FedEx is like every other delivery company in that anytime a delivery vehicle is stopped the parking brake must be engaged. This is called a “rollaway runaway” and unless it can be proven that the parking brake did not work correctly then this is 100% on the driver and the driver will be looking for another job.

Something has to be wrong with that truck. Sitting there in park should not result in a rollaway on relatively flat ground even if it's not in park.
I know the Sprinters have shitty transmission, axles, etc. I'm sure one of them had a malfunction and featured a jerry rigged repair. They are super popular because they are more efficient and more useful than the ancient Ford Econoline and Chevy Express vans. They just can't handle the miles as well.

At that point I'd be looking for hidden cameras and Ashton Kutcher.
Side note, how do people let themselves get so goddamn fat?
We gotta put a stop to this, it's out of control.

It's a fake video
That's my thinking since physics would make it "difficult" for the van to roll on it's own first backwards, then forwards, starting from the same place.

He didn’t purposely floor it into her house, or do something reckless that caused a bunch of damage. It looks like if anything his truck malfunctioned
But any slack that I'd have cut the driver with the benefit of being able to go back and watch the security cam footage would be out the window once I watch him casually toss the package onto the porch with no regards for the contents inside.

IIRC most FedEx guys own those routes and trucks. They are subcontractors for this very reason so that they have their own insurance and FedEx isn't liable.

quote:Nope. FedEx doesn’t own those trucks for exactly this reason. That truck is independently owned (or owned by a secondary company). Still his insurance will take care of it.
He works for FedEx,

Man she’s a massive count. I get that you’re pissed about it. It’s an accident and fed ex is going to fix it and then some.

A friend of my brother had this happen except he drove for UPS. He had only been there a couple of weeks when a Sprinter van went out of gear and ran over his foot, he ended up having it amputated.
UPS tried to blame it on him but he swore the vehicle was in park. The UPS attorneys were all over him to accept a lowball settlement. Turns out that van had a documented issue of slipping out of gear and UPS didn’t fix it. Settlement number miraculously increased substantially. I have no idea if he accepted or what.
