Not to mention coordinated clothing change and car swap (if legit). Indications so far is that this was a well planned/organized attack.

Relax - New AKs can be chambered in 5.45 Soviet, which is a .22 caliber centerfire.
ARs are in 5.56mm which is a .22 centerfire caliber, as well.

Sounded like there might have been a foot chase last night in the same area, when that rifle could have been ditched. Officer just asked for confirmation of that incident and location so he could just "pick up" that rifle.

A horrible coincidence or a clue to who did this. The band Eagles of Death Metal have a song called San Berdoo Sunburn with the lyrics "we're headed to San Bernardino".

In SoCal, it seems like there is a camera on every pole you pass by on any major thoroughfare.
It is hard to imagine that more information is not available.
I remember the documentary they did on the Boston Bombing, and interviewed the guy that was in charge of the whole operation. All departments reported to him. I seem to remember him explaining how it's not as easy as you think. He had to be very, very sure of releasing suspect descriptions before doing so, as he didn't want to make a mistake, and it can sometimes screw up the investigation.
I think I remember him saying they all debated pros and cons for some time before he decided to release it.

Earlier they seemed to indicate that the Christmas party yesterday was for the center.

Yeah I'm not sure what people are trying to prove when they don't at least acknowledge that mass shootings are a bigger problem in the United States than they are anywhere else in the world. I'm pro gun rights, but you're being disingenuous if you can't at least admit the facts.
You can admit mass shootings are a problem without having your NRA card revoked.

Very easily could have. Have no idea if they did, but if it is a conference center, I would assume they are pretty booked with these type of events this month.
