I haven't ruled out some sort of contract murder or what have you. Assuming the event or someone at the event was the target and there was more than 1 shooter - it functions as a contract murder - more than a spree/thrill killing in my mind. Particularly the professional nature of the operation.

I think that's likely, but I'm still trying to figure out the motive beyond sheer random terror or, perhaps a dress rehearsal for a bigger operation - and these guys didn't martyr themselves because they wanted to be experienced and participate in the "real" one. This can't be the main target. Makes little sense.
