As far as the iphone goes, idk. Maybe it was missed? Maybe it was one of the officers and he accidentally left it behind?
Wouldn't this be exactly why you don't release a crime scene like this within 48 hours?

I read the landlord pried the door open and let them in.

If there's an Obama conspiracy involved here, to what end? It seems like all the most damning evidence (guns, ammo, bombs, ISIS connections, etc.) has been made public already.

but they weren't the ones who left a crime scene full of evidence to be contaminated.
The door was blocked with plywood. Should have been guarded......but it's not like they just walked in there.

Never served as law enforcement, but did have several buddies move over to the FBI after the military. I can tell you they're not CSI. Most don't want to work the grave yard shift and as soon as they can pass the buck to someone else they will. This looks like they were told that the crime scene would be secured by local LEO, and local LEO never got word. Somehow all of the media found out and showed up. Now it's too late and the FBI is trying to save face.

Would that leave fingerprint dust residue? Is that the mess
Yes it is. That is why I said they likely swabbed for DNA and did not dust for prints.
Many things can be dusted for prints but if it doesn't have the right surface it would need to be collected and possible analyzed in a lab ( glue chamber or spayed with ninhydrin.

This makes sense as well, and still points to the "We released the scene" thing as a bullshite CYA move.

How can the media be so incompetent?
MSNBC just showed the driver's license of Syed Farook's mother and her SS number in a live broadcast.
Except they didn't blur out the personal information...

Since obviously conspiracy would be a concern with this plot (the terrorist act, not todays action), would you not expect to see a shite load of fingerprint residue in that 'cleared' scene?

I mean you can't have a trial with all dead suspects, so I guess there isn't a whole lot of sense to looking at evidence that would be relevant to a criminal prosecution but not to national security.

they're ALL dead huh?

He was right in a sense, the Ottomans stole Jerusalem from the crusaders in the 12th century, only to hand it back over in the 20th to the British.
On another note, Heres a slideshow of some items that were left from a "cleared" terrorist house.
Notice the bed, and the kitchen.

I mean seriously is there going to be a criminal prosecution? Against who? I haven't been following it as closely as you guys.

They are trespassing at best, obstructing an investigation at worse. They should never have been in that apartment...which was blocked off BTW. Some media vultures found the landlord (who is clearly not all there) and had him pry the door open.
The doors and windows were all blocked off with plywood.

It puts a bow on the two killers and their involvement with an end to the investigation, and changes the conversation and focus of the media attention.
Not advocating this, just thinking out loud.

This would be comical if it wasn't so damn disgusting, incompetent, and honestly scary.

You don't think shredded documents, photos, and the like could be used to see if this goes deeper than just 2 dead people? Are there other names in some of those documents that were just left sitting around... who are the people in the photos? Any of that information could have possible been useful to national security had it led to other individuals involved in this terror plot.
