Someone mentioned a sporterized 1903, which is in 30-06 and has a Mauser action, which could be the case.
That was what I was gong to say.

What about an older gun that was possibly rebarrelled? It seems like such an odd choice.

That’s sort of what sporterized means. Typically, it’s modifying the stock to look more like a standard hunting rifle. In this case, it would be taking the receiver and barrel off and putting it on a synthetic stock.

You don't need to go to assassin school to learn "run away and hide." I think some of you are conflating this with assassinations of high level political figures in your minds. There wasn't a Secret Service or equivalent detail immediately in pursuit. The DC Sniper got away with this for weeks and he wasn't a trained assassin or even very intelligent.
Yeah, it’s probably fairly easy to blend in with a panicked crowd in a chaotic situation like this, especially when the limited security staff doesn’t really know what’s going on or where the shots are coming from.

Have no idea if true, but someone on X is saying the name is a band not a single person and shows some other potential members.

Gotcha. I wonder it’s some older relative’s gun that the shooter used for convenience’s sake, as I didn’t think they made Mauser’s anymore. Maybe it’s symbolic or something.

Seems pretty obvious that’s the guy in the surveillance video. As usual retarded poasters on twitter 5 steps ahead of federal law enforcement. They are going to nail that guy and there’s a better than 7 in 10 chance he dies in federal prison. Better than 2 in 10 chance he dies in federal prison before he is sentenced.

I heard a few minutes ago the US Marshals service is now involved. That tells me they are looking for a particular person.

The band name is God's finest scalpel. There music was nothing but noise. No singing so I don't know if someone went in and removed the songs and just put noises on there.

Mauser is still in business.
My guess is that this was used because it was fairly cheap to buy. Judging by the way the scope is mounted, this was some kind of Bubba special that was able to be had for a relatively low price because no one else was interested. It’s a soup sandwich of a gun.

For reference, this was the gun of the guy that tried to kill Trump the second time. As you can see, they’re both somewhat in the same vein.

When law enforcement investigators are fully mobilized and motivated, they can find pretty much anyone. Add the internet to that call for information and we should have someone to hang before Monday.

I agree..I posted this morning that they know exactly who this person is and just waiting and following him/her

Yeah, you may be right. That looks like a cheap special off grabagun.com. Not as likely that a family member that actually hunted or gave a crap about rifles would own that thing.
eta- whoops, somehow missed that this isn't the actual rifle from yesterday

You could effectively protect against every known method of identification and, if sufficiently motivated, the feds would find you within a week using something you've never even thought was possible.

What would a pro use? A few months back at the range, someone came in with a Mini-14 that looked like the gun the guy from the A-Team used. It looked very cool.
