Wasn’t that Delley’s Corner where Barry Root was murdered? They knocked that building down. That must have been 20 years ago.

Wonder if they ever caught anyone.

Tara and Broadmoor? Doubt they are still throwing eggs at each other during football season.

frick this thread is bringing in the nostalgia hard. We lived off Goodwood in Sherwood Forest (mid 90’s-2006).

Street had 2 coldasacs so few cars, played tackle football in the street, fished in that ditch that ran to the Winn Dixie. Used to shoot BB guns all up and down that ditch actually, in the middle of the city

Spent pretty much every weekday morning over the summer at aquatic club, members of Sherwood country club when it was private, lots of dumb summer days out there golfing and doing dumb shite as a 10-12 year old kid.

I remember after Katrina riding around with my dad and the fricking China Roll King was open probably 30 cars in line, a guy offered us $100 to drive him to those sketchy apartments off Sherwood Forest rd and Goodwood, we gave him a ride for free.

Sports Unlimited GOAT, K&B GOAT, Piggly Wiggly and Jumbo Sports Trash

Used to hit up the blockbuster by Jumbo Sports to rent video games for the N64.

Walked to that park on the other side of Trammel dr. by Twin Oaks elementary to play baseball, hit golf balls, do other dumb shite.

I sliced my foot wide open jumping into that ditch by Winn Dixie off Sherwood with no shoes on chasing a dog

We used to have neighborhood wide air soft wars with our friends, jumping people’s fences and shite with fake guns, probably would be arrested or shot for that now a days... only rule was you weren’t allowed to wear shoes, for some reason

Man I miss being a kid in that neighborhood in the 90’s-early 200’s

ETA - Reading this thread and people are bringing up Tony’s donuts, place was good but Mary Lee was the best!

don’t think they did. I thought that was across Sharp 2003-ish?? and the highway Dept took the building down afterwards to expand the intersection.

North or south of Goodwood, baw? Only the handsomest, most cunning could survive the south side and live to tell the tale.

My parents lived on the north side of Goodwood. Woodcliff drive had lively Bayou behind our house. We used that canal to fight enemies and to read dirty magazines. Lost a football on woodcliff street. It went into a gutter. My dad and brother went into the canal and found it days later. Brand new college style football. My dad almost kicked my arse.

Played at Sharp road park too. When did you play?

I played there in the early 70's I played basketball for Saint Thomas More also. We had no gym at that time so every game was played away. I was in 7th grade when the tornado came through. Momma kept us home that day and I'm glad she did. We lived on Sheraton two blocks from the school. The house two doors down from us was hit hard. It was a horrific day.

That bayou ran behind my house on the southside, too. I feel like the Ponyboy to your Cherry Valens. I would catch crawfish and break any piece of glass I found. Growing up, the closest thing I had to knowing a celebrity was the owner of Cullen's Playland lived on the corner. I served two tours. 1985 - 1998 and 2000 - 2002. These westsiders don't know what it was like. God speed.

dandan and I rented RBI Baseball from that Alfalfa/Blockbuster in 1988 and have still yet to return it. The manager had bleached blonde hair and and a black goatee and could probably still pull us out of a lineup today.

What was the name of the video store in the trailer park on Flannery before you hit Brunet's? I wore their Big Trouble in Little China tape out.

Reuben’s bar behind his restaurant next to Jimbo’s. And his hot daughters who worked there.

We had the exact same childhood it seems. I also grew up off of Goodwood on Voorhies. I’m probably a few years older than you though. We were member at aquatic until I got to high school then my dad joined Sherwood. Spent my high school years as a cart boy working for Mr. Irv.

Greatest lunch specials in history. They taught me what General Tso Chicken was and made a man out of me. Little Caesar's on Millerville had the most perfect coke-syrup-to-seltzer ratio known to man, but the restaurant always had a metallic, rythmic screech, like some kind of torture wheel was in the back. I always imagined it was like Motel Hell. Great cokes, though.
