Man I didn't realize the Aquatic Club had been there so long. My family were members from '96 until it closed. We used to blast those ghetto apartments with tennis balls while playing tennis baseball.

I remember when Pasquale's had to hire a deputy to work a security detail on the weekends because they were so busy.

Does anybody remember the tornado hitting Baskin Robins?

Remember the huge spotlights that were usually at New Generation on Florida? We could see them against the clouds all the way in Central.

The neighborhood isn’t what it was but if you drive around there it isn’t a far cry. Lots of new pavement down on the roads and my cousin was married at STM few months back I got to see it pretty good.

In the general area.

Egg Roll King, Jimbos, Blockbuster Video, "meet at Sharp Road Park to fight" , spending hours in the ditches that ran through the area. That church that had a bball court with carpet.

In high school taking girls to the little turnaround behind Audubon elementary.

Good times.

Sherwood middle today is actually a pretty good spot for pickup games nice wide open court with lights at night. Used to shoot there a ton. Which church has a basketball court with carpet?

Broadmoor Baptist

More nostalgia:

Stop n Go on Flannery at Goodwood
Buying Mickey's Hand Grenades at Jimbo's with really bad fake IDs
Fairwood CC--the high dive was the tiddies
Getting a haircut from Oscar in the Broadmoor Shopping Center
Riding our bikes EVERYWHERE
Playing baseball for Coaches John and Rob Mushmeche at Sharp Road Park (and all over BTR)
Wandering around New Generation looking at all of the cool sh!t
Riding bikes to TG&Y on Florida and Little John (I think?) to buy Hot Wheels and other crap. Same with the K-Mart on Florida

September 1971. Tornado's spawned by Hurricane Edith.

Hit St. Thomas More too. The church had just been remodeled and water put it back to square one.

We called Stop n Go Stop n Rob since the one on Drusilla under the overpass got robbed weekly.

Rod Couvillion and Johnny Pomares? (sp) cut my hair at Broadmoor. Had the two chairs towards the back with the curtains for the old men reading Playboy while getting their haircut. Rod cutting hair with the phone cradled in his neck taking bets.

Rob Mushmeche is still in the photography business and son Rob still works with him.

Rode out Florida yesterday and noticed the New Generation building is demolished and only a slab. Bought Pioneer KP-500 underdash 8 track, then cassette from Henry Glenn there. He wired my current house for audio. Irwin and Joe Shaab tossing TV’s off the top of the sign.

Ha, yep! Oscar's chair was up front. I remember him taking the straight razor to young Crickets' neck and thinking what a grown-up bad arse I was.

The Mushmeches are great people. Rob used to run our asses into the ground during practice. Worked our rear ends off, but we were also usually the best team in the city.
