The flight prep/walk around would take longer than the drive.

It just makes no sense unless they just felt like going on a helicopter ride.

It’s extremely likely it was a human caused crash. On the off chance it was mechanical he still killed his family in an aircraft.

I wasn't responding to your "he killed his family" comment. I was responding to your conclusion that "he bit off more than he could chew." I

To much inherent risk to make it worth it.

I was downvoted giving initials, so I guess I can get some more for saying I was told he was not licensed and without auto pilot Student that couldn’t have passengers

Wow. I consider myself a bit of a risk taker but no way I’m taking anyone else up with me if I am not licensed and 100% sure I’m comfortable flying, especially with the weather.

I mean I think that's definitely it. He probably really enjoys flying. Like if someone who lives on a lake and wants to go eat at the marina. Boat ride might take 15 minutes longer than a car ride, but they want to go on the boat...

You know I was driving back on 383 last night and I saw a flashing red light down the road. Wonder if that was it. Thought it might have been police but didnt think it was.

edit: Dont think that was it based on location

I'll tell ya. It's that damn death trap they were in. You'll never catch me in a Robinson. It's only a matter of time in. Robinson, especially an R-44. Janky arse blades probably cut the tail rotor in some turbulence.

I wonder if his real name is Anthony? There isn't a Jared savant in the airmen registry out of the four savants in the registry, not one has a rotorcraft endorsement

I’ll never get in an aircraft where the wings move.

If they somehow resurrected an F-14 I would definitely take a ride in the backseat if offered.
