Dolly Parton dying made think of this. There are very few people who live in the public eye and are able to be loved and respected by everyone.
The two off the top of my head I can think of are

Dolly Parton would be the only one recently. But Mr. Rogers probably was as well.

I think Michael Landon (from Litle House On The Prarie) projected that persona as well. I have heard that he was a blazing a-hole, though.

Yep, no problem. Since you didn't specify dead or alive, the other thread covers those still alive.

Nah. Plenty of people hated Weird Al. Most notably parents who hated their kids listening to his music and the artists he spoofed.

The only artist I know of who got pissy over it was Coolio and that lasted only up to the point where he found out Al had gotten permission from Coolio's people, but they just didn't tell him.
