If a plane was messed up to the point of having to eject, how could it be put on autopilot? This is a strange situation. Seems like we are having more mishaps with the F35 than ought to happen.

I thought first of a failure of life support systems (oxygen). However, he could have just descended to breathable air.
What is really farked up though, is where the pilot was reportedly found, which is essentially in the middle of the city, right next to Charleston International.

It may not have anything to do with this event but the F-35B has an “Auto” eject function that ejects the pilot based on parameters set in the computer. Mostly related to its ability to hover and the pilot having very limited reaction time.
Would suck to be flying along and have that system malfunction and punch you out of the plane unexpectedly.
