The problem with many of our public schools has nothing to do with funding.

Sounds like they'll just move down river to a more favorable parish.
No they will move to a more favorable state.

Welp. At least there's always crawfish to employ Louisiana. And tourism...

That really happened? Seems odd since Exxon does so much for the community. How many different school science fairs, events, conference rooms, etc... all paid for by Exxon.

TBR says Exxon can be together.
They can't do charity work.

Might want to ask the folks at the Chalmette refinery or the Torrance, CA refinery about Exxon being hesitant to sell a refinery that doesn’t fit long term plans. And Baton Rouge doesn’t look like a very good long term investment when the governor and local officials don’t want you here.

I’ll mesage you. It was apparent last week that TBR has some sympathizers posting here

I am so anti-teacher, anti-school board, after this shite. I don't care what it is, I'm voting against it for these groups. Even the republican incumbents that voted in favor of the ITEP for ExxonMobil - I'm against them too. Apparently, they don't carry enough weight on the school board to EDUCATE the other school board members as to the critical importance of the ITEP.
Therefore, in my eyes, THEY ALL GOTTA GO!
City of St George says: "Thank you, again"
ETA: Still hard to accept that liberal demoncrats are in charge of calling financial shots on a BILLION dollar national company. That should scare the frick out of everyone! Think about that... a frickin school board!! This is so far over the heads of these idiots, it's not even funny. It's embarrassing!

Look at what's happened in city government since 2016 or so, this city is completely following the Jackson, MS playbook.

Thanks! I misinterpreted it wrong. I thought each parish had their own and like Ascension parish last week voted to give tax breaks.

In name only, now. Applications are certified with the State, but exemptions are approved by the local taxing authorities.

But recently changed for LOCAL municipalities to vote on instead of at a STATE level like it once was. Appalling!

ITEP WAS a state program. Governor Honor Code threw it all down to the locals as one of his first acts after his Medicaid expansion. He DGAF about the petrochemical industry outside how can he tax us more. One of the main reasons Corpus got a $7-8 Billion project dropped in their laps.

“Due to the uncertainty, we will have to assume there is no ITEP incentive as we make cost projections on future investment opportunities in Louisiana,”
This does not say Baton Rouge but rather LOUISIANA! It is very important to note the use of the word Louisiana and not East Baton Rouge. Exxon will not expand any operations in Louisiana and will not be applying for any future ITEP incentives anywhere in Louisiana.
quote:
“This may include a reduction in investments that grow jobs, expand operations or support community projects,” the release reads.
Exxon just politely told Louisiana to go frick itself and "may" means in corporate speak "it will" reduce jobs, operations, and cut off all local contributions.

It's amazing to me that so many Republicans voted for that clown. But muh hookers.
