probably was and why it cuts out when it does, live streaming maybe so it was able to get off the phone before it was destroyed.

It looks like that is the building where the ammonium nitrate was being stored but I could very well be wrong.

Did you guys see the light moving toward the smoke plume from above between the :12 and :13 mark in this video?

You damn right. The original fire was just a smoke screen.

the whole city would be leveled

No indeed not. They have tactical nukes that make explosions on the order of magnitude of this one in Beirut. It looks different, though.

I agree but some people are compelled to seek out a conspiracy in any and every disaster.

I just saw it mentioned in that linked tweet thread, then watched myself.

I saw the light move down to the area, but I don’t know if chemical explosions look like that or if that is indicative of some form of weaponry.

It moved crazy fast because it was light from the explosion reflecting off the smoke plume. Come on people... grow a brain... light moves fast.. hurrr durr

though I'm not sure how much Israel will sell to Lebanon.

Israel is a civilized country; they will donate whatever is needed in Beirut.

It looks like it, but I don’t know the science behind chemical explosions in open air environments.

Could just be a product of the chemical reaction of whatever benzene or nitrate, if indeed that’s the real cause.

ETA: I, and the replies to my observation, already share a downvoter. Guess we’ll find out who it is soon.

The flash you see is just the explosion. There's a giant column of smoke there from the raging fire. When explosives go off, you see the flash before you see or hear the blast. Light moves faster than sound. It's the same reason that you see lightning before you hear thunder.

The explosive reaction is over in milliseconds. The shock wave/blast moves about 10 feet, tops, in that time. The light, though, has moved almost 200 miles. You see the flash of the blast reflected off of the column of smoke that's already there before you see the growing fireball and shock wave. The same phenomenon happens in all explosions. You usually just don't have a giant pillar of smoke right there for the flash from the actual chemical reaction to dramatically reflect off of.

This. If you go frame by frame, you can clearly see that it’s reflection. The light from the first instant of the explosion reflects off the right side of the smoke plume. It looks like light shooting down from the sky in real time, but it ain’t.

Texas City was an ammonium nitrate explosion around the turn on the 19th to 20th century if I remember.

That would be 1899 to 1900.

"A 2 week state of emergency has been declared in Beirut, the city is now a "devastated city" according to the High defense council."

Sounds like John Bel Edwards just arrived
