Whose bright idea was it to store fireworks next to a building filled with nitrate?

That would explain it then.

Yeah, because they would come right out and say, "Yep they got us. Now we can't defend ourselves."

Just the replacement glass for Beiruit is going to be massive problem.

Yep. And Beirut, for is faults, is an architecturally cool city with plenty of modern glass structures.

When the tornado came through Downtown Atlanta in 08, it took a couple of years to get all the glass replaced. This is like 10000x that.

For sure. Luckily, Turkey and Israel are fairly large producers of glass in the region, though I'm not sure how much Israel will sell to Lebanon.

That would also give some credibility to the story of the ship blowing up, right?

Another video of explosion from balcony of Condo Those glass rails may look pretty but they don't hold up.
Looks like a pretty major road just this side of that explosion. Wonder if cars got blown off of that overpass?

It almost looks like the water that got blown out instantly turned to clouds in that one.

That’s not far off.

When you have an explosion there’s a huge pressure drop at the leading edge of the shockwave, which causes the air to cool. If the air is humid enough, the water condenses. The cloud expands until the shockwave dissipates enough that the pressure drop no longer causes the air temperature to drop below the dew point. Or, in the case of a nuclear blast, until radiant heat from the fireball overcomes the cooling effect from the shockwave.
