Roughly 6-7 years old. Mom made cinnamon toast. Took a couple bites said it tasted bad and refused to eat it. She got mad and said she wasn’t cooking anything else. Tasted the cinnamon toast and looked at her spice rack. Realized she used celery salt. I don’t celery salt or cinnamon toast

Food poisoning usually hits in a 24-28 hour window, so often the wrong food gets the blame.

I thought it was usually a 6-12 hour window.

Used to dip tobacco from time to time like any teenager from bumfrick Louisiana

Woke up in the middle of the night with one of those Sarah Desert type thirsts for water. Grabbed the bottle off the night stand and started chugging... was dip spit

Sneezed while eating a Peep during the LSU-Arky game on Easter as a kid. Damn thing was in my sinus cavity for two days. I still smell the marshmallow and sprinkles from time to time. Have not had one since.

Was on a 10 day cruise. First night, ate a delicious fresh caught steamed lobster. Right before bed, the symptoms of norovirus started. Violently wretched into to tiny cabin toilet for 3 days, with the first two tasting like partially digested lobster. Done with whole lobster.

You should have been done with cruises.

My parents cooked pork chops all the time when I was a kid. I have zero interest in them now.

Same for me & jambalaya

My Dad won’t eat peaches because my Grandma canned them & they pretty much ate the year round in desserts

Years and years ago, cooked some philly sandwiches. I was a young and inexperienced cook and, despite the mushrooms feeling a bit slimy, I went on and cooked them.

Was working nights at the time. Around 2am I start shaking, feeling a bit nauseous, a bit of a vertigo feeling. Tell the fellas I need to leave, stop to puke on the side of the road on the way home. Get home and am full-blown sick, rush to the bathroom to shite and puke, shaking like hell, wife is in there, sick as well.

Not a good night for either of us. Couldn't eat a philly sandwich for 4-5 years after that.

I got violent food poisoning at Toups Meatery and now I dont Think I can eat anything there ever again.

Which sucks because it was the second meal I had There and I enjoyed both... just not the aftermath of the second

I found a roach in the salad at Olive Garden back in 1998 and I haven’t eaten at one since

I don't know if the chain even exists anymore, but there used to be a Ryan's Steakhouse (which pretty much turned into a Golden Corral-style buffet), and the last time I went to the desert bar, I'm looking at all the offerings on the table when suddenly, one of the biggest roaches I've ever seen in all my years suddenly scurries across the deserts, from one end of the table to the other. I didn't like Ryan's much, but it was a popular place for big family gatherings. But after then, I just wouldn't go to one.

LSU days. Got back to the apartment after some heavy drinking. In my infinite wisdom, I decided to go to town on a large sized Pace salsa jar and a bag of tostitos. I probably knocked out 60% of it. About 30 minutes later I was barfing my life out. Well, mostly Pace salsa. I didn't touch salsa for about 3 years after that moment. It's been a solid 17 years since that night and I just started using Pace again.

As a kid my sister(no pics) and I for some reason mixed lime sherbet and Sprite and apparently ate too much because we both got sick as dogs. To this day I won't touch anything that has to do with lime, Sprite, 7-UP or anything like that, no fricking way.

Hot muggy day at the camp, woke early to a hot cup of coffee, towards the end (as it cooled) I felt something enter my mouth, it was a huge cock roach. Never drink my coffee without examining it thoroughly now.

Most of these seem to revolve around puking. Mine for that are:

Nestle's Quick Strawberry (drank four glasses when very young, spectacularly colorful projectile puking, never since)
Canned Tamales (first campout, got the flu, ate cold tamales (snow covered the firewood), puked tamales into sleeping bag which I did not leave because it was facking COLD)
Wild Turkey - obvious.

On the other hand - raw oysters - I've been violently ill from these 3 different times. Still love them.
