The few times I have found myself at these type of parties, I felt like the biggest sucker. Sure they are marginally fun but not at all worth the price tag.
As others have mentioned, getting those same ten people together for a nice dinner and plenty of drinks would be much more enjoyable.

After doing NYE parties in Nola, I never wanted to do another new years eve party again. Miserably crowded and not nearly as fun as just getting those poeple to do something actually cool.

most NYE Parties are overrated and fake as hell..this one included.
truth, I went to a friends camp with a group on Lake Rosemound last year and it was one of the best NYE I've had in years. Also wasn't hundreds of dollars and fighting bar crowds all night

I went to Happy's (wasn't packed at all) last year and pounded some drinks then meet some friends at our secret spot and watched the fireworks

I went last year and it was ok. I drank and ate a ton. Food was mediocre with a wide spread. Some was really good. Others were gross.
Lines were a pain in the arse but no different than waiting to order at a crowded bar.
Music was fun and everyone was having a good time there.

I just can't be tied down to a single place on a day like that. Plus you're missing the fireworks!

I hate to say it, but NYE is not NOLA's best night. It's the only occasion where I absolutely have to get out of town every year.
NYE 1999 was frickin legitest ever in the FQ.

where we going this year
IDK. Last year I had a huge gift card from Happy's I was depleting. Don't have one this year. Might just roam around

I think you could have been in Nome, Alaska that night and had a good time.
