Now that's what I call esprit de corps!

I have some friends who are around my age who either enlisted or are officers and it blows my mind how often they're posting on social media in the middle of everything they're doing. I had no idea any of that stuff was allowed.
ETA: I’m reading Douglass Southall Freeman’s Biography on Lee right now. I’m at the part where he’s a plebe at Westpoint. They weren’t even allowed to have books. They could have one magazine or whatever the 1800s equivalent of that was and needed direct permission of the superintendent. Basically anything else of a personal nature was off limits or if it wasn’t it needed to be directly approved on a case by case basis. Even playing an instrument in private was limited to something like 2 hours a week.

I think it’s the collapse of white culture. We’re permitting this to happen.

Those who do not participate have "opted out" because there isn't really any effective way to police behavior within accepted avenues. It really feels like we are going down to the tornado shelter until the storm passes.

I always wondered what it was like being a Roman citizen at the end when things started to collapse in their society.
I don't really wonder anymore.

I'm so glad I retired in December of 2015. I saw the writing on the wall then as a 1SG.

The crazy part is that in 5 years we'll look at this as relatively conservative behavior.

In any SHTF scenario, I do not trust the capability of cryptos (though I do think they are the way of the future - IF we can maintain technological stability).
Better to have physical means of production than currency that might not be fungible.

It’a almost like the Amish had it juuuuuust about right.
What, they basically stopped progress in the 1880s?
What if we had a sect like that...except it’s the 1980s.
No social media, vehicles you can work on, they would just reject the shite that came after 89.
And also no pacifism.

In any SHTF scenario, I wouldn't trust the US Navy either. I can see sailors taking selfie videos and dancing while a ship is engulfed in flames

I believe that’s due to the moral and physical collapse of our ruling class, and the rise of the kleptocrats.
The Teddy Roosevelt’s and Andrew Jackson’s don’t go into politics anymore.
Instead, we get Clinton’s and Biden’s.

I suppose that's just an inevitability of any human institution. Nothing can exist in perpetuity, and everything must have a natural life cycle.

Rome began recruiting tough arse Germans and Illyrians into their military, and things went down hill after centuries. We are recruiting and promoting women and queers and things are going down hill in years and months.
