You people who think your bravery in refusing to wear a mask is akin to a badge of honor are ridiculous.
Just put the damn thing on. Stop politicizing a fricking 10sq inch of fabric. Wear it where it's required and take it off when you get outside.

People like to throw "HIPAA" around but its scope is actually quite limited and has nothing to do with disclosing your supposed medical condition precluding you from wearing a damn face covering. That is more in the realm of ADA than HIPAA.

the real batman wouldn't cuck out as easily as you
now run along and be a good little government-science sheep and put your mask on in your car.

And business associates, which covers anything and anyone who has your health data.
So now that no one can legally disclose your PHI, no one can disprove your claim of a health condition precluding you from wearing a mask.

The number of people that understand HIPAA are lower than the number of people that understand the 1A.
You can legally be required to show a medical reason for not having a law apply to you. Consider the case of handicapped parking. You are required to show proof (ie hand tag or license plate) but you are only required to show the specific condition to your doctor.

I think the other responses to this question answer it sufficiently. You're going to have to come up with another reason for your skyscreaming...snowflake

Hmmm, opening the doorway for service dogs requirements.

That’s not what HIPAA is.
It stops medical providers from sharing medical information without consent. Not grocery stores trying to stop the spread of a deadly disease
That is only part of HIPAA there is also a large section dealing with what a person of "authority" can and can't ask a person with regards to their health and healthcare. It absolutely prevents a grocery store from asking about a person health condition. No a grocery store as a private business can choose to make masks mandatory for entry and as long as they make "reasonable accommodations" for someone unable to comply due to health issues they are fine.
Accommodations in this case is the online shopping and curb side pick-up.

Why do you think this statement exists in the Davidson County ordinance?

And this will be challenged. Too much money to be made not to.
I'm not saying I agree with it, but it's the reality in our litigious society.

It may be, but I think even with my strong opposition to masks the personal shopper route will cover the store simply because finding 12 jurors who are not Karens will be a challenge.

Oh it'll never go to court, just like most lawsuits don't. But the first big settlement and all other businesses will fall in line.

As someone who worked with covered entities for years, I have to say that your understanding of HIPAA is not just wrong but down right dumb.
It’s literally this type of idiocy that makes me laugh out loud when I see Karens or sovereign citizens try to use it in real life.

Again, who do they expect to police the mask policies? They are all wanting to either defund the police, protest their asses off to where the police are required to be there or fight the police, do they expect social workers are going to enforce the mask policies?
